Odds are that was from some kind of "Leadership Training for Christ" program or something. We had similar things when I was a kid.
While the word choice might have been poor, they were trying to make a point to younger people in the church. "Don't try to preach to these people, odds are you're not going to make a difference. If you feel compelled to try and spread the word to him, ask an adult to do it."
I don't really call myself a Christian (I don't feel I'm worthy of the name, for one, and I don't necessarily associate with one church. I visit several churches.), I am just a rowdy Jesus freak. There's no reason not to try to spread the Word. If someone's interested, they'll listen. If not, no harm done. I can say I tried.

Well, that's one of the biggest issues out there. They're like YOU CAN'T TELL US WHAT WE CAN AND CAN'T DO. Which I totally agree with. While our religion goes against it, I'm not going to force you not to be able to do what you want. Make sense?
