I'm going to go ahead and say I find that hard to believe, but regardless, ok. membership fees makes it more business like. do you also have stockholders?

I live in Austria where at least the Roman Catholic church (66% of population, mind you) finances itself through membership fees since WW2. Feel free to google it, shouldn't be hard to find.

Stockholders, no. At least I am not aware of a practice like that.
In my opinion, a business without stockholders is still a business, though.

A church makes money by offering a service.
What about that is not a business?

Churches are basically nonprofit organizations. And most nonprofit organizations are tax exempt.
User avatar #199 - techketzer (08/08/2012) [-]
Exactly. Therefore taxing it like any other business.
User avatar #204 - mrradical (08/08/2012) [-]
no, a church is not a business. If it was taxed like a business, then you would be paying the government to worship

No, I was saying that because there can be old reposts and there can be new reposts. Old ones are ones you probably didn't know was a repost, while new ones are ones that you've probably already seen and you just want the thumbs ( Which I don't get because thumbs are worthless).
