I was pressed for time and couldn't go in depth.
The reasons I am not looking forward to this game are:
1. The story sounds like it's just God of War in Middle-Earth. family dead, seeking vengeance, you know, all that.
2. The whole stolen assets debacle with the guy who worked n Assassin's Creed makes me feel like the gameplay will just be an Assassin's Creed clone.
3. My last point and by far the most important is how the entire storyline from what has been told and from what I've seen in trailers is so against the lore of Tolkien's works it's unbelievable. There are no such thing as "wraith powers" that guy has the force. There are only 9 ringwraiths, that's it, end of story. Also these ringwraiths have no actual powers. You may wonder to yourself "why is this guy so upset about the lore in this game?" Tolkien's lore means everything to me! It's something I'm able to talk about with my Dad,it's something that I've been following and reading up on for years. As if the changes made in the movies by Peter Jackson didn't go far enough now there's some undead guy running around seeking vengeance. Unless there are any other questions, comments, questions, or concerns, this rant is OVER!

What about fear they instilled upon... well, almost everyone? The sheer horror they represent is kinda obvious, isn't it? Merry was knocked unconscious in Bree when he came upon a Ringwraith. He then fell in a nightmare instilled by some black magic. I could go on, if I weren't so tired. Either way, there's a lot more to the Ringwraiths than just long life, heightened senses at night, and transparent bodies.

Other entities that could be referred to as traditional "wraiths" I have encountered as going by different interchangeable names. I don't recall the specific term being used outside of the nine. Also the point that the protagonists "wraith powers" are baseless.

The first 2 points are merely you judging before the game comes out (no real harm there, first impressions are everything when it comes to stuff like this, I can only hope you're wrong) But... You're getting that last point wrong. Ringwraiths are Wraiths, but different. The Nazgul have the power of the 9 Rings of Power given to Middle Earth kings by Sauron. They became wraiths by having their lifetime stretched out till their forms were nothing but hatred filled spectres, similar to what started to happen to Smeagol, but due to his long lifetime, all he became was a shriveled ball of feet, claws, and hatred (and gigantic blue eyes >_>)
Wraiths are made by a few ways; Necromancy, Morgul-blades, or if someone died in Darkness or dishonor.
Anyways, I hope you're dead wrong about Shadow of Mordor, and that it's a effing fantastic game

There is actually one other account of a wraith other than ringwraiths. Gorlim, one of 12 companions of Ladros, betrayed his friends when he was brought before Sauron and was told that if he revealed his companions hideout, he would be reunited with his wife (Context being, Ladros fell to evil forces in the First Age, and Gorlim, along with his 12 companions, of which included Beren, the very same who had a romance with Luthien) and he, infact, did betray his comrades. He did see his wife, but Sauron did nothing more than show him an illusion, as Gorlim's wife was already dead, and he was then killed by Orcs.
He later appears to Beren as a Wraith, after everyone out of the 12 except Beren had been killed, and confessed what he had done, giving Beren the chance to get his bloodlines heirloom and escape with his life.
Other than this, my other point is, a wraith doesn't HAVE to already existed, written by Tolkien's genius hand, for a new story including a wraith to pop up, seeing as how a wraith can be formed by means other than having a life dragged out by a Ring of Power.

I know that a wraith doesn't have to already exist for the story to work, I just don't like the circumstances. I checked and the game takes place in between the Hobbit and LotR, Sauron had no kind of ability at that time, much less being able to grant power to a mortal.

Yeah, this irks me as well. I, myself, won't be getting the game right as it comes out, for various reasons, the first being this one, I really want to see other reviews by fellow Tolkien fans, to see if it's a piece of crap or really just a game that is really amazing with a few (or, what I'm going to assume is a lot) of plot holes, and that it really isn't an Assassin's Creed clone trying to push itself into the LoTR stories.

I'll admit, Shadow of Mordor had me jumping up and down in my chair, almost as excited as I was when I got The Fellowship of The Ring as a child... Then more and more details came out about it and now it's looking iffy. I'm still got my hopes up... But not too high, just in case Monolith takes my hopes and stamps them underneath a spiky boot. We shall see the outcome of this.
Regardless of what happens, we can still all agree that Tolkien's original works and lore are still and will forever be works of supreme art.

In another note... Favorite creature/monster/whathaveyou from Tolkien's works? Mine is Ancalagon the Black, hence the picture.

You mean the sick as shit Lord of the Balrogs, the one who was feared by all elves and the one that took down Feanor? Nice.
I kind of wish they would do films on the First Age stuff... I've always wanted to see a theatrical version of the War of Wrath done right. The stuff we see in LoTR has always seemed a bit... Incomparable to the scale of the First Age, with entire continents being changed due to a war going on. Done right, of course, not a piece of crap, as some theatrical versions of stories tend to turn out.
