That's why we have the justice system man. To try and make sure they did it before conviction, and for a fair sentence not based on revenge. There's flaws, as with every system that involves humans, but it's better than nothing.
You should watch the movie Law Abiding Citizen. A guy basically does what you're saying, and see the end result. Just a warning, it's pretty grisly. Obviously it's a little over the top, but it's pretty good. It has Jamie Foxx and Gerald Butler

Let's say a friend stole a DVD of yours. Justice would be confronting him and asking for it back. Revenge would be to steal on of his. You might convince yourself the revenge option is justice, and maybe you won't feel bad about it. But you probably won't feel good. And you didn't really help anything. And maybe you didn't even know the whole situation, maybe the DVD got knocked into his bag on accident and he didn't notice.
Revenge wouldn't help anything. Your girlfriend would still be dead. And you'd have the life of a man on your hands. And that's if you didn't go to jail. And that's if that man's loved one didn't hunt you down and try to kill you.

Bullshit, If a person came and kidnapped your 6 year old daughter, tortured her for days, raped her and then ultimately killed her and then threw her body in a ditch somewhere, you are telling me this person deserves a nice cushy prison for rehabilitation?

The punishment should be death for any act of premeditated murder, never should you be able to take someones life and still live yours. I would not take revenge myself because i also believe that would make me no better but i would want this person to be 'put down' by lethal injection.

Have revenge or have justice, just don't expect somebody else to carry out your revenge
User avatar #196 - zedfourhundred (03/14/2014) [-]
In this case, justice and revenge are the same thing.
User avatar #91 - pokemonstheshiz (03/13/2014) [-]
Another death wouldn't make it better. Giving that person a chance to become rehabilitated would give them a chance to maybe do some good in the world, and a chance to repent. Even if I don't actually kill them myself, wanting someone else to do the dirty work for me is just as bad in a sense.
User avatar #95 - zedfourhundred (03/13/2014) [-]
No, once again why would you want a monster like this, that is what they would be, a monster, they are not a person anymore back on the streets after any amount of time?

Another death in this case means another threat of the streets forever and that is a world safer than any rehabilitation can create, and a world i would prefer to live in. You can never repent enough for me to forgive you for raping, torturing and killing innocents. Capable of doing it once, you will always be capable of doing it again.
User avatar #96 - pokemonstheshiz (03/13/2014) [-]
They wouldn't be on the street unless they could prove without a doubt that they are reformed, and in a case like that they would still remain under high surveillance if they could prove it.

either way, those rehabilitation prisons are for lesser offenses anyway, so this debate doesn't currently come into play

and also, my initial argument was against revenge, not just in this extreme of a case. Who are you, Peyton straw-Manning
User avatar #97 - zedfourhundred (03/13/2014) [-]
How did you know who i am? lol

Yeah i know my example was quite extreme but I am just pretty firm believer that if you are capable of pre-meditated murder, you always will be, you lack that empathy which allows us normal people to stop.

I just don't see why you deserve to carry on living if you took someone else's life (pre-meditated murder only)

Those were the good days, man. Remember that area you'd go to when you took the portal at the very left of Henesys and you'd end up in these training grounds of some sort, where there were slimes and pigs on top of these haystacks, and everyone would gather there to train and talk. User avatar #118 - Draserszes (03/03/2014) [-]
Fuck yeah I/L. My favourite mage job to date. I never got too high in levels with it but I remember having loads of fun. Kind of sucks that you hardly see any classic MS jobs around, anymore. Now it's mostly Demons and other OP characters, like Hayato.

Omg I've only just remembered that, that was so much fun! Just talking to everyone when doing anything in general was so much fun. I've met a few people on it recently which was quite fun, although I've been meaning to update it, might get around to it now! My favourite area? Probably the old middle part of Kerning City where people could jump onto the sewer pipes and there'd be tons of people there at a time just chatting away. What about you?

Yep. I tried to start playing it regularly again but that didn't work out. I got a Dual Blade up to level 60ish then started messing around with other jobs. I eventually stopped playing, never getting another job higher than level 20. The main problem for me is that the social aspect of the game kind of disappeared. Not many people play the game anymore, at least not in the timezone I was playing in. I loved seeing people everywhere I went, and it was awesome having someone to talk to while grinding.
User avatar #88 - mrfop (02/28/2014) [-]
The social aspect of MS is soooooo fucking dead hahaha! That's half of the reason I don't play it anymore. Remember the days where you could walk through Henesys and you'd get bombarded with friend requests and trade invites? When people didn't tell you to change channel so they can grind alone?
User avatar #89 - Draserszes (02/28/2014) [-]

But I hit as much as other classes that have like 280k because of my buffs
I can freeze bosses completely like pink bean

That's cool. I/L makes grinding fun.
User avatar #123 - phanact (03/03/2014) [-]
I love em
User avatar #124 - Draserszes (03/03/2014) [-]
I'll ask you the same question I asked the other dude. What's your favourite zone?
User avatar #125 - phanact (03/03/2014) [-]
I can't decide
Leafre probably
I've done so many quests in so many areas I know almost every area
User avatar #114 - Draserszes (03/03/2014) [-]
Is it like, a pre-big bang PS?
User avatar #115 - phanact (03/03/2014) [-]
nahhh
its up to date with GMS but there's no shelling out hundreds of dollars
User avatar #116 - Draserszes (03/03/2014) [-]
Just googled it. I played on a similar PS where you could vote for NX too. That was awesome. What job are you playing?
User avatar #117 - phanact (03/03/2014) [-]
I've always played I/L since I fell in love with them preBB
User avatar #118 - Draserszes (03/03/2014) [-]
Fuck yeah I/L. My favourite mage job to date. I never got too high in levels with it but I remember having loads of fun. Kind of sucks that you hardly see any classic MS jobs around, anymore. Now it's mostly Demons and other OP characters, like Hayato.
User avatar #119 - phanact (03/03/2014) [-]
Hayato is disabled here
Idk dude
I'll always be an I/L
They just revamped em again

Omg I've only just remembered that, that was so much fun! Just talking to everyone when doing anything in general was so much fun. I've met a few people on it recently which was quite fun, although I've been meaning to update it, might get around to it now! My favourite area? Probably the old middle part of Kerning City where people could jump onto the sewer pipes and there'd be tons of people there at a time just chatting away. What about you?
User avatar #96 - Draserszes (02/28/2014) [-]
Yeah, I kind of feel like updating MS too. I'll probably do it when I get a proper internet connection. Where did you play? EMS or GMS?

My favourite zone would have to be Elinia, purely because of the atmosphere and music. I liked Henesys a lot, too.
User avatar #107 - mrfop (02/28/2014) [-]
Back in the good old days I used to play on GMS but now my internet won't actually allow me to connect to anything other than EMS. Kinda sucks 'cuz the social aspect in EMS is total wank hahaha! I get you, Elinia was always cool. You seen it recently? They've kinda ruined it by putting so many stores and NPC's, ruins the whole 'fantasy' feel.
User avatar #109 - Draserszes (03/01/2014) [-]
Yeah, I liked that fantasy feel it had to it. I would just sit there for ages listening to the music. And yeah there's a stupid ip lock now.
