Gotta agree with you there man. The guys who fuck in these things, I don't like them either. It's like bringing a blow up doll to a family reunion, you just don't do that.

Supposedly, the officers in charge of each side were hanged for treason.

i don't know if that's true.

i do remember reading that almost all soldiers on both sides had to be reasigned because they no longer wished to fight eachother.

also a young adolf hitler was also there. he didn't join the festivities because he thought it was wrong to fratrenize with the enemy

I very, very much doubt that Hitler was there. You might as well be telling me that Santa came down in his sleigh and gave everyone stockings filled with toys and chocolate.

hitler was a corporal in the 16th bavarian reserve infantry at the time. and the 16tth was there during the truce.

so yeah he was there

And what did the elves think of this? Did he get coal for not joining in like such a nasty grinchy-poo?

hey if you wanna be a dick that's your right, but i'm just telling you historical facts. your opinion on them however is irrelevant.

I'd be more inclined to believe you if you'd provided anything whatsoever to back it up. At least when I said something which I couldn't be 100% sure about, I had the decency to say "supposedly".

If Hitler was there, how come this is the first I've heard of it, despite seeing this post on this site at least three times, and having heard the story long before Sainsbury's even thought to make this ad? Sorry man, but it just stinks of one of these things people just say about Hitler because someone else told them; like Hitler having had one testicle or being a vegetarian (both of these ideas are false).

so i take it you don't have the ability to google?

if all else fails you can still see for yourself on wikipedia (and yes wikipedia is a citable source)

furthermore i can't find a single shred of evidence that anyone was hanged for the truce so you also haven't provided any evidence to the contrary.

The burden of evidence is on you./

Also "supposedly". Meaning, "the story goes that..." Nobody said, or even implied, that I believed it, or that I expected you to.

Regardless of circumstance, thanks for wasting your time on this wild goose chase. Hope you feel good.
