Isn't it also hinted in skyrim that Sheogorath may be the hero of Kvatch after the expansion where you take over for him as the mad god?
User avatar
#28 - fuzzyballs (04/07/2016) [-]
uh no
yes, your character becomes sheogorath, as you freed the Daedric prince of order from his madness, but it's a non-canon thing

Shivering Isles for Oblivion.
I for one have my own theory about it, though, that a surprisingly few amount of people have agreed with, but I stick to it.
In the Shivering Isles DLC, you travel to Sheogorath's Realm of Oblivion. The Shivering Isles. Anyone who goes into this realm is "touched by Sheogorath," leaving them in a broken mental state. Paranoia, mania, crippling depression, phobias, all of it.
So, as lordrylucard mentioned, this DLC follows the Champion of Cyrodiil as they take the reigns and ascend into Sheogorath's shoes. I'll leave out the rest that hasn't been spoiled. Now, my theory is that the Champion of Cyrodiil isn't exempt from this. I believe that you don't actually become Sheogorath, but you're just insane. Maybe good ol' Sheo is even playing along, who knows. Some hero with a god complex wanders into the Mad Realm and goes nuts, convinced they're the new Mad God. Makes sense to me.
Akulakhan, Vvardenfell, Wraithguard, Lorkhan. I don't think I've shared this with you guys yet, so gimme your thoughts please

I'm sorry mah man, but when it come to the Deadra, one thing is clear : They change, they are Padomay's blood. The cycle was infinite because Sheogorath was still the same being as he was after the 15 turned him into what he was. There was no way to end the cycle but to have another being become Sheogorath, one that was never Jyggalag to begin with. As Sheogorath/Jyggalag disapeared, his realm didn't colapse, since the Hero of Kvatch was there to be the keystone. And so this mere mortal changed, into a Daedra. The Isles are Sheogorath, and they created a new vessel for the will of Sheogorath. In the end the Hero was both himself and Sheogorath. How does it work? he was just a mortal, not a Deadra, sohow does this changing nature applies to him ? Because he may have not been a Daedra, but he was going to change into one. For the simple reason that he worked to take Sheogorath's place, and because he was told it was possible, it could happen. Their obscure nature easily allows such this paradoxical process.

It's a good theory, but personally I'm more inclined to go with the becoming Sheo one. It fits in more snugly with all that Arden-Sul business. Plus it means additional cycles, and boy oh boy do we love cycles in our TESlore.

i like to think when ascended to godhood he became immortal and took the form of sheogorath, so for me oblivions protagonist is indeed sheogorath. mostly because its fucking cool

I like to think the Hero of Kvatch did become the new Sheogorath. Maybe he inherited his powers with time and his mindset too, doesn't seem too farfetched given the setting, achieving godhood is relatively easy in TES - Mannimarco and the Tribunal did less and still elevated themselves to deities in their own right. And it's a sort of a crowning achievement for the player, in Morrowind you end as a god-killing immortal hero, so it's only fair you end as a god in Oblivion.

he starts rambling and making references to shit that happened in oblivion. I wonder what happened to jyggalag, whether the deadric princes finally got tired of his shit or he's growing stronger over the years
User avatar
#61 - shibblehiggins (04/07/2016) [-]
Here's an excerpt from the elder scrolls wiki that may help you with that question

Jyggalag was at one time one of the most powerful of the Daedric Princes; he was so powerful that the other Princes began to fear him and his power. As a result, they cursed him to live in opposition of everything he stood for, to live the life of a madman and bring chaos and insanity rather than order and logic. Henceforth, Jyggalag became known as the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath.

TL;DR Sheogorath is a corrupted, weaker form of Jyggalag and he returns to his normal form after every era

I know how the grey march works mate, I mean the end of the DLC where sheogorath becomes jyggalag and you beat the shit out of him, which in turn frees jyggalag from the cycle and makes you the new prince of insanity. My question is what is he up to NOW since he's free and everything. Maybe sheogorath in skyrim is still jyggalag after the deadric princes got tired of his shit and gave him a new sheogorath body to writhe in...which could explain the theory that the hero of kvatch isn't the new sheo but just the jyggalag that existed for that certain period

#64 - shibblehiggins (04/08/2016) [-]
Jyggalag, at this time, wanders the plane of Oblivion once more in his true form, and unfortunately we can only speculate after this.
My guess is that the daedric princes will curse him again in some way, seeing as how they can't truly be rid of him.
What really pisses me off is that Bethesda really could have expanded on him, seeing as how he's the strongest of the daedric princes, but unfortunately his name and legacy was cast adrift after Shivering isles, or at least until the next Elder scrolls game.

here's a new theory I just invented:
y'know how skyrim is nothing like previous elder scroll games in that morrowind and oblivion were very quircky and fantasy like where as skyrim was serious, mainstream and dull. What if jyggalag is slowly seeping his order into mundus? what if jyggalag took control of bethesda's design team?

the problem is, he doesn't have confidence, he has a narcissistic personality, and that comes across as confident, watch what happens any time an actual insult is aimed at him by another famous person and watch him sperg out, remember when that guy made a joke about trump's obsession with Obama releasing his birth certificate and asked him to release his to prove he's not the child of an orangutan and after Trump released his certificate he sued the guy for making a joke?

If confidence was the only thing needed to get shit done, everything would dole out like some shitty shonen anime. What's needed is a mix of confidence, intelligence, diligence, and self awareness. He's got that confidence bit down pat, though.
