clearly in this system a vote would only be called if the country could afford it and realistically win it to start with, im not prposesing we just have a vote every two months to ask people if we want to go to war. while yes referendums are costly, its only becuase of how inefficiently they are done, the use of e democracy could be used to significantly speed up and cut costs of a referendum, also there is no need to make this legally binding , referendums arent anyway, they are just advisory (in the UK anyway).

Not only that, but having a bureaucracy in charge of something like war that requires split decisions to win has shown historically that it doesn't work. The Korean war could have been won pretty easily. Essential supply lines were located and identified, bridges that needed to be there to bring Korean troops into the war zone were too. General Mcarthar requested to destroy both, which would have ceased the flow of troops to the war zone, and starved them out forcing a surrender. Congress did not approve the action, so he had to go around those zones to continue the skirmish, fucking up the entire operation.

Most people agree that I'm very smart, but it doesn't make me better than them. Besides, several of my best friends are on par with me.
Now then, knowing I'm smart is not a bad thing, nor is it bad for me to say I am. What is bad is thinking that because you're a bit above average intelligence (or even highly above average) that it means you're better than everybody. I would be a very lonely man if I thought that way.

I would have to say that you're technically correct, as the Roman Republic had Centurions and in general the military have a lot of say in the political arena. We also don't have a triumvirate. Instead we have people vote for representatives who then vote for other leaders.
However, oligarchy is a very broad term, any Republic is built upon the idea that most people are stupid, so let's try and have the not stupid ones represent them but leave out the dumb ideas.

And a republic is tyranny by detached oligarchs.

Sad when Christians get so butthurt that they can't appreciate comedy gold like this without losing their shit.
But hey, if we didn't have morons to follow other morons like sheep, we wouldn't have Christians, would we?
#92 - fefe (04/08/2014) [-]
Yes. Comedy gold. Because we haven't heard people say God doesn't exist in funny ways before. No. Never. Hilarious. Ha ha. I'm laughing.
No, it's not comedy gold, we've heard it a million times before. Not funny. Not laughing.

different (atheist)anon here. old and not even that funny joke is indeed not funny.
#103 - fefe (04/08/2014) [-]
Maybe if it were original in any way shape or form. In that case, I think people would be inclined to appreciate good humor rather than a blatant, overdone joke. Or what, is it taboo to like original comedy but normal to love jokes as common as the change in my pocket?
The fedora is there because the joke is pretty cringe-worthy in its own right.
