The subtitle is in traditional Chinese though, even though they live in Beijing in the film where it'd be simplified..

Why is 么 replaced with that weird character that I've never seen before. Is that traditional?

The anger when you see as a first year sinology student that you'll be learning to write 廳 instead of 厅.

I'm going to study China in college and this terrifies me.

the only kanji I could recognize was 名 from namae as in japanese, in chinese, what would be the reading of the kanji?, is it chinese much different from japanese?, like spanish and portuguese?
#137 - Seanxone (04/02/2014) [-]
It's read as míng and is half of the word míngzì (meaning name) here. Japanese borrows a lot of chinese characters but uses different words for them, they are very different sounding and structural differences start getting obvious the more you look at the languages.

thank you sean, at least I should give chinese a try, chinese sounds cool

It's pretty hard at first getting the tones and different letter sounds down, but once you can read PingYin you can at least survive in a Chinese speaking area.
User avatar #150 - ponchosdm (04/08/2014) [-]
for some reason I think that to a spanish native, is not too hard to make chinese sounds, or pronunciation. thank you for the heads up about PingYin, I'll read about it.

I have limited knowledge about chinese, and close to no knowledge about japanese. What I do know, however, is that the japanese use a lot of chinese characters, which may lead to certain similarities.

The "direct translation" totally sounds like an actual chinese accent. I lold.
User avatar #134 - givememoarpony (04/02/2014) [-]
the chinese accents are that way for a reason, you know.

Bare vent til inkvisisjonen settes i gang, når alle vranglærde skal jaktes ned og bli tvunget til å snakke som majoriteten.

Bokmål er bredere brukt enn nynorsk, pluss at nynorsk er en styggedom.
#19 - monkyolsen (03/28/2014) [-]
Joda, men det gjør ikke nynorsk noe mindre offisielt. Og angående "styggdom" er vel det bare smak og behag.
