Because it's the hacker's fault? Oh, but they got away with it so no one knows who it is to blame so we have to blame someone within arm's reach instead.

Why would you blame Apple when people use shit passwords like "password" or their pet name or their birthday or "1234567890" ?

If we actually find out that they 'hacked' into all 100 of those accounts by guessing 'password' or '123456789' I'm going to be very sad.

Well, that's how brute forcing works.
You see, some clever bastards found a way to bypass Apple's limited login attempt system: through the Find my Iphone app.
So they ran a script / program that tries various strings for passwords for how long they were able to or until they found a match.
Consider this: with a very good computer you are able to crack a 16 character password in under an hour by using a string generator.

My suggestion for everybody is to use a random string generator to generate 32+ character passwords, use them, and store them somewhere safe, preferably in a way that it does not link to any of your accounts.

Edit: you would need a computer cluster for that kind of computation.
With a normal computer it may take up to 50 years to crack completely random 16 character passwords.

Hence, why they're working at Apple, and not, say, IBM.

Ok, so do you or anyone else here understand this whole "ayy lmao" thing? According to knowyourmeme, it has nothing to do with lmao (laughing my ass off). So is the joke the fact that the alien is saying "ayy el em ah oh", "ayy laughing my ass off" or "ayy" while laughing his/her ass off? I have yet to figure this out, and it's hilarious either way I look at it.

Since reading that article, I've just come to assume that it isn't meant to be understood. It's just a stupid thing that I guess is supposed to be in an alien language or something.
