I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of games that come with Demos.
Theres an entire section on the steam store that's for Demos.
"Try before you buy" is a load of shit.

Not for older games. Like I said above, I just bought killing floor for the multiplayer side of it after I was impressed by the single player.
Same with Duke 3D. I already had a pirated eDuke32 version on my computer but since I digged that game, I bought the meagton edition off of steam (and I'm still waiting on the multiplayer for it).
There's not a demo for every game out there

Even if there aren't demos every game has gameplay of it on youtube. so trying before you buy is not a good.

In my defense, I torrented Don't starve because it looked interesting but I didn't want to drop $15 on something I didn't know if I would like. I loved the game and went straight to steam to buy a copy of the game. Some people do try before they buy.
