You gonna love this story then: back in the days when I started self-learning digital art, I used Paint. A lot. It was free, I liked pixel art, etc.

My mother would bitch her ass off about the amount of ink I was wasting when I painted an image...

At various times I've been told about my knowledge by her:

And her knowledge:

And the most aggrevating bits, when all her REDICULOUSLY IDIOTIC ideas that she often managed to convince my parents off.

I'm in school for civil engineering and people are surprised when I don't know how to use a camera or random cell phone when handed to me.

Not the same as your case, but it's funny when people think that anyone smarter in a particular field than they are can solve all of the world's problems.
