| Ah, the OSX86 hack jobs, good luck with your software upgrades, driver updates, virtualization & general system performance. Now if you built a true EFI system, that would run OSX without an interpretive layer, but it is still a hack that would leave you without proper support; plus it's illegal. 1) Hackintosh get's all the updates, upgrades, performance, and software any other OSX computer gets. 2) It doesn't run with an interpretive layer. 3) Most people who can do a proper hackintosh aren't going to need Apple "geniuses." Those people are so damn retarded. 4) Yes, because Apple will definitely track down every copy of OSX that's on an illegal machine, and then bother spending a few hundred grand trying to sue them for a couple, and hope to God that they aren't wrong. And then throw on top of that, nobody would buy their stuff anymore. One of us has an Engineering Degree & actually understands how hackintosh works, the other is some pussy who built a POS & downloaded someone else's work to put an illegal copy of OSX on it. I never said anything about apple geniuses, I talked about support for software & drivers. Major updates like Lion from Snow Leopard require a rebreaking of the software for 'proper' installation. Virtually all drivers are modified Linux drivers which when run on a BSD kernel experience lag & always run a chance of convergence errors. Downloading someone else's hack doesn't make you a hacker. 1) Never said I'm a hacker, never said I've even made a hackintosh. Want to know why? The OSX operating system is shit. Sorry, my degree is in biomedical engineering for neural engineering and a minor in cognitive artificial intelligence, I don't take time out of my day to look at the inner lining of something I would never use. 2) POS? Let's forget about my work computer, my personal computer has a 6 core 3.2 GHz Phenom II, a GTX 460 (Okay, yeah, that is pretty shitty but it plays Mass Effect and let's me use my Inventor, so it's fine), 8 GB RAM, 2 1TB hard drives, openSUSE 12.1, Windows 8 (Why bother pirating Windows 7 again), a DVD/CD R/W, a Blueray read, two monitors running 1080p, and the tower looks a red stormtrooper (in my opinion)… Tell me about your "superior" Mac. Oh wait, I forgot to add, this only cost me $500. 3) Oh well, forgive me, I misunderstood that. 4) That's entire new OS in reality, like upgrading from openSUSE 11.4 to 12.1. XP to 7. Half the time, I don't update immediately, I wait a few months until I see how good it is, and make sure all my goodies are compatible, then backup and reformat everything, THEN install it. It's a pretty good things that we don't get major updates and such immediately, teaches people some damned patience. 5) Didn't realize, I never looked at the inner lining. The one time I did it was hardware specific and you had to use hardware compatible only with native drivers. But that was years ago. 6) It's not even a hack. Hacking is gaining unauthorized access to another persons computer. This is soft modding. And I am not a hacker in any way, I only program for hobby or for work, I don't feel like breaking any laws to be able to say I'm a "hacker." And yes, hacking is illegal: www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2701 | ||

| it's a matter of functionality. The system you'd rather prefer depends on what you plan on doing with it. For example having Backtrack Linux on my laptop is great for when i need wireless and my neighbor's is passworded. or for example my teacher uses a mac solely for graphic design. And windows, well honestly i can't see much use outside of gaming, but i'm sure someone will step up to the plate here and spout some microsoft master race nonsense. I just like macs because I make videos and Final Cut is such a great program to use. Besides that, I don't care about types of computers Besides, I just told you that you can install Mac OS on any computer and it'll be just like on a Mac. Now if you install it on a computer with better hardware, you'll have a BETTER mac, that you can't buy from apple. Assuming you want Mac OS, of course. Ah, the OSX86 hack jobs, good luck with your software upgrades, driver updates, virtualization & general system performance.
