No one holds them responsible though. They engineer government shutdowns and yet they are reelected despite working towards not doing anything. Congress has probably the lowest approval rating in history, but nothing is really changed. So,where is the accountability?

The liberal agenda does a lot more good for the average American than the republicans who are always looking out for the corporate puppet masters like the Koch brothers who basically dictate your party's platform. Not that there aren't plenty of democrats who lie in the same bed, but at least they have the decency to be more discrete about it.
User avatar #329 - misterbatman (11/11/2014) [-]
You're implying that discretion in politics is a good thing? I want my politicians to wear their politics on their sleeve. I want transparency. The reason Democrats ever get elected is because they pull finances from the same sources as Republicans while lying to their voter base about their real agendas.

Also, it takes two to tango. The shutdown happened because neither party was willing to budge. If the democrats wanted their way, they should have either had a stronger majority or been willing to cut some of the degenerate pork-barrel spending they're so fond of.

Not bait. This is obviously a liberal making a satire of the standard conservative argument about gun crimes, doing so in an attempt to show that just because you have a gun does not mean you are protected in all circumstances. While they are right, they are also clearly a libtard. It wasn't a citicism, it was an observation.

I never once said anything about paying fines. I said your belief is only worth what you pay for it (meaning what you are willing to sacrifice to see your belief made real--if you want people to be able to go around shirtless, and you're passionate about it, you shouldn't be afraid to stand up to the law about it). You are misreading my comments and taking them out of context. Also, you're making both a strawman fallacy (presenting my argument as something it's not or overblowing it to attempt to invalidate it) and an ad hominem fallacy (attacking me instead of my argument to draw attention from the fact that my argument makes sense).

You are attacking me, not my argument. Your argumentation is weak, and your point is lost until you provide a rational argument that consists of something more than "Oh shut up."

If you believe in something, your belief is only worth the amount you are willing to pay for it. Also, per the Oxford English dictionary, the definition of civil disobedience is: "The refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest." These people are not practicing civil disobedience. They are not displaying their nipples, so they are not guilty of public indecency/nudity. They are not going to affect any change in this method. That is my point. If you really believe in something and you want to change the law, you have to be willing to break it. Otherwise, you are complacent, and nothing will happen. That's not civil disobedience, that's obedience.
