Well North Korea does have nuclear capabilities, just very poor delivery mechanisms. Kahn's premise revolves around the disparity between the two belligerents in terms of delivery, defense, and readiness. Even in the scenario of a nuclear war between the USSR and the USA there were a wide range of possible results contingent on these factors.

You're confusing the principle of deterrence, which is indeed "you nuke me I nuke you (and it sucks for us both)" with that of MAD, which is that "if either of us starts the nuking neither of us will be left at the end of the day". Kahn was all for deterrence (along with a ton of other things) and in fact argued that by having reasonable post-war systems in place you enhanced your deterrence - there's even less chance of the other side starting a fight if you'll still be alive and well while they're in ruins.

A large part of the book is spent debunking the idea that if nuclear war starts both sides will be annihilated. I'm not doing it much justice by trying to summarise 800 pages of strategic thinking from a brilliant analytical mind at 6:38 in the morning, but I hope the point is clear enough.

Ok I see what you're saying.

My main point I think was just that while North Korea does have nuclear capabilities, they couldn't really "hit us" so that situation seemed to not coincide with mad or the principle of deterrence. It turns into "you nuke me I can't nuke you" type of thing.

But I see what you're saying. Two nations nuking each other doesn't mean the end of the world for those nations it just really fucking sucks for both. So while no one really wants to nuke/get nuked, it still pays off to make sure that in the case that it does happen they end up having the upper hand.

I was actually a little upset because they would tease you by making something sound mysterious and then you'd solve it by following the bouncing arrow and some NPC would spell it all out.

Dragonborn had some quests that started to look like puzzles, but mostly wound up failing to be very challenging.

And if you read my first post, I made fun of how you can solve quests while brain-dead in Skyrim and would enjoy more puzzles and mysteries.

Sorry, I took "enjoy more" as meaning you felt some were somewhat puzzling.

I just got done with a quest the other day that was supposed to be a puzzle, but the npc that's with you spells it out in such a "here's the answer, but I'm not directly saying the answer" kind of way it frustrated me. I think I was just talking about my frustrations rather than actually disagreeing with you. haha

Don't be a jackass, you know what I mean, and I don't know how Morrowind works so I might be totally wrong;

I'm imagining having to find every town by blundering around a bit, then wander around the town trying to find this cornerclub, then talking to NPCs until someone knows where the dude lives and then wandering around trying to find the damn place and having a long interaction with the dude to finish off the quest. If every quest took as long as it seems that would take and I kept getting sidetracked with equally long sidequests, then yeah I can imagine the game would have taken a while longer and I'm also obviously exaggerating.
you infant.

Well just look at the picture.
I have only played a bit of Morrowind, but I'd imagine they would have road signs like Skyrim to find where the cities are. If not, I do know they have a fast travel system similar to the carriages of Skyrim. You can pay to go to the major cities. The Corner club is called South Wall. I wonder where in Balmora that is. Maybe near the South Wall? I don't know. It tells you almost exactly where to look.

I agree that it will take a bit longer, but some people like actually having to look for something instead of being spoon fed everything like in Skyrim. It makes you actually use your brain a bit. As it is now, you can complete every quest without knowing anything about anything. You can do it without listening to any dialogue or reading any notes. Just follow the quest marker and activate/kill whatever it points to. Even the few puzzles and mysteries in the game are too trivial to really call puzzles.

But, I understand that not everyone wants what I want. It would be nice if they put these kinds of detailed notes in in addition to the quest markers. That way people who want to can turn off the hud and follow the directions, and those who don't can keep the markers.

Oh well, it is what it is. Luckily there are mods that try to change it more to my liking.

haha. I just wanted to be an ass and essentially repeat the content.
It's just funny because it's clothing made by people who don't wear clothes. And it's made for an adult, in the style of people who don't grown into adults.
#16 - darkjack (08/12/2014) [-]
gorons are big rock things that live in hot caves (like, kill you hot), kokiri are kids that are kids forever and they live in the forrest. in the game, the main charectar eventualy grows into an adult, and needs something to let him withstand the heat for one of the main areas, so for convinience, they made waht the post is talking about
