Yeah man, the thing is that you have to have money to have fun here, and there aren't many people with good careers here since the majority of the jobs are in public service, so unless you have a masters working at sandia national labs, or los alamos/kirtland/UNMH then there isn't a whole lot of money floating around, so quit being lazy get a degree and open the possibilities lol

Well, technically I am, Puerto Rico is a commonwealth (Estado Libre Asociado, in spanish), it means that it's under USA sovereignty but it isn't technically part of american territory, as it is labeled as an "unincorporated territory"
Another thing is what it is in the practice, as #9 points out
But, still, I declare myself techically not wrong. The best kind of not wrong

Puerto Rico is considered a commonwealth of the United States (that's it's official status it accepts) and IS a U.S. territory meaning the U.S. constitution is the overruling law of the land (just like it overrules states constitutions it also overrules territory constitutions). This means that while it is allowed self governance the U.S. government is capable of over ruling any decisions it makes (though it is very rare). Also U.S. laws over rule Puerto Rican laws and its ability to negotiate with foreign countries is limited and must be approved by the U.S. congress (just like U.S. states but in general the U.S. doesn't care too much so long as we approve of the country)
Also all Puerto Ricans are US citizens (Puerto Rican citizenship has no meaning outside the boarders of the Unites States just like state citizenships) and they have non-voting representation in the U.S. house of representatives they are part of the U.S. military and there representation in foreign affairs is by the United States.

Naw, man. Under US Law, in order for an area to become a state, it must first be a territory. Many people have tried to include Puerto Rico as a state, but only failed through vote. People have gotten so far as to mark Puerto Rico as a territory, which has its benefits and its drawbacks. It's the biggest reason why Puerto Rican birth certificates, passports, and IDs are all considered US identification, and why they have immediate citizenship upon their birth in Puerto Rica.

States are more permanent, whereas territories can be annexed or can secede with much more ease. States are given a small amount of local regulation that can over-power a federal legislation, given it's not a heinous law to counteract (IE Murder). Also, states have certain taxation regulations that largely differ from Territorial taxation, to make it easier for annexation or secession.
