Nah, it got in my eye. That's how I actually found out I was bleeding. I thought it was just sweat at first.
User avatar #103 - badgerbaiting (05/09/2013) [-]
I hate cuts to the head. They bleed an irritating amount. My first concussion was due to a bronze crucifix falling on my head. First I knew of it was when I wiped my forehead to get rid of this weird wet stuff pouring down my face.

Leave then. Your protest won't change anything. People have tried for much grander causes in larger numbers and failed, friend. You aren't gonna have a happy ending handjob if you leave this spur in your side.

Actually I've found that once stupidity awareness comes full force, FJ is pretty great at burning bandwagons. I'm just trying to be a small spark in a large forest.

I'm stoked that we're talking about this like it's human rights or something.

have you tried Soundforge? I recommend it, but it will be a bit weird at first , as it is kind of similar to Vegas rather than Audacity.
User avatar #224 - mirrorsmirrors (05/06/2013) [-]
I haven't checked it out, actually. I haven't heard anything about it. I know that it doesn't have the same support for scoring to video as Logic, which is probably the most important feature for me.

Don't mean to sound like a dick but in that situation there is no benefit in using OSX for image editing than the PC. The selling point for macs being good for image editing is the IPS screen (which, looking at the comments here, people haven't figured out you can buy for a PC too)

What software are you using for audio, Logic?

>Buying a Mac is retarded for obvious reasons

Nah, there are several reasons to opt for a MacBook pro over other laptops but only if money isn't a big factor.
User avatar #172 - pulluspardus (05/06/2013) [-]
but I can use ArtRage , Photoshop, Spectralayer, Vegas, SoundForge, Unity, Audacity, Flash on Windows whats the point of OS X ?
User avatar #220 - mirrorsmirrors (05/06/2013) [-]
You're right about photo editing. I find that with the various add-ons I've got like DropZone for OS X with the way everything else is laid out, my workflow up to the point of delivering my files and such is just a tad smoother than when I used to edit on Windows. Mostly though, it's just because I do my audio editing on OS X and I'd prefer to keep all my business on one OS.

Audacity is actually really, really cool. It's free and open-source and surprisingly useful. But as far as features go, unfortunately you don't get what you're not paying for. Unless you're a pirate. Logic Pro 9 is rivalling Pro Tools as the industry standard (ie. you collaborate with other engineers, there are a lot of perks to being able to just bring your project file/folder over.), and although Pro Tools is available on PC, it's extremely rare that you'll ever run into an engineer who isn't running everything on a Mac due to compatibility with a lot of desirable hardware/software. Since most audio engineers use Mac, they will often program neat/experimental/useful apps or plugins for OS X and not bother coding it for PC. The one very notable difference in the pattern is Hans Zimmer who uses Cubase on PC. But he makes 750,000 a film and can hire whoever he wants to work on Windows with him. But that completely reinforces the idea that there is no "correct" DAW or operating system, only what works best for you. Logic works best for most people, and despite my 6 years working in FL Studio on PC, I'm now one of them. I also find that on the rare occasion that I've had a system crash OS X in combination with Logic works really well to recover any unsaved work. But I've also got an app that autosaves every 2 minutes, so.

tl;dr
There isn't a right or wrong digital audio workstation to use, only what's best for you.
The majority of the audio industry works on Mac for various reasons, and if you would like to collaborate with anybody it's smart to invest in a Mac.

you are right, but (I think) Logic Pro is one of the biggest software names in the audio industry and is OSX exclusive.
User avatar #193 - pulluspardus (05/06/2013) [-]
Logic Pro is exactly like Audacity , which is an opensource program.
User avatar #194 - joshlol (05/06/2013) [-]
fair enough. I have never used either of them.
