Tbh I'd probably leave 10 mill to the wife and 1 to each kid and the rest to charity and scientific development.

Thats enough for each to live on more than comfortably and tbh my kids should make their own way in the world.

It's not that hard to believe.
I mean, he's dead and all, so he has no use for the money.

Oh, and Vedo makes a good point as, were I Bill Gates or some other hideously wealthy man my kids would probably end up splitting the business earnings between themselves so that's even more money in their respective pots.

I'm genuinely not, dude.

50,000 is a good wage for a family man. It divides 20 times into 1,000,000. That's 20 years worth of not having to worry about life for each kid but not enough to see them the rest of their lives. However if they get a good bank with decent interest of about 0.1% or something then that's 10,000 a year. (and yes there are banks that will give that kind of interest on that kind of money.)

10,000 is good on top of a decent job which could get them anything from 20K to 75K a year plus the interest from the million or they could not put it into the bank and just bite into it whenever they feel the need for cash.

In a world where working wives are common and (assuming I don't die when I'm 40 or something) my kids will likely already be grown up and with decent jobs, that is more than enough of a gift to see that they and their families live happy and fulfilling lives.

Ten for the wife because I imagine she would be quite old too so her money would end up being divided amongst the kids eventually as well but on her terms. She could leave it to the grandkids and so on.

Frankly speaking I care enough about the world to realise that furthering the pursuit of science and the welfare of people in general is not only a better legacy than I could have ever imagined I would get but also is better for my kids and their kids and so on as well as all of humanity. More than giving 600 million to my kids would ever achieve.

Don't be so quick to call a dick when you see one, dude. Not everyone on the internet is as morally degenerate as you might imagine.

I believe you.... I too feel similarly
User avatar #49 - snowshark (04/29/2013) [-]
Eh, I don't mind. Some people don't have enough good in themselves to see the good in others, even if it stares them in the face.

It's just the way the world is right now. Don't worry, it'll change for the better eventually.
User avatar #53 - cloudstrifeownsall (04/29/2013) [-]
Maybe... I don't know if it will be in our lifetime... I try to be nice and do what I can to help people even though i'm still pessimistic about the world right now...

Eh, it's a future worth fighting for, though.

Besides, when I can talk to someone in America from the UK instantaneously for very little cost (just the cost of the ISP) you gotta think about how people are going to connect to one another about things like politics and charity. We're already seeing the internet helping turn the world into a better place with the actions of groups like Anonymous and the fights against bills such as SOPA, ACTA and PIPA.

It probably won't be any time soon but the internet puts the power to get your voice heard squarely in the hands of anyone with a computer and that is enough for me to be optimistic about.

(The U.S. will take a lot longer to fix than the European countries because of the number of fucking idiots who think their government isn't a corrupt and bloated mess but the fight in the UK and in other countries is already long-since begun towards change. The trick is just getting the word out there and giving people enough hope to get out there and fight for the world that they want.)
