So you'd rather, instead of seeing -part- of a breast, have a screaming and crying baby because other people weren't considerate enough to let it be fed. Yeah, consideration works both ways.
User avatar #104 - mikepetru (03/16/2014) [-]
No, my point is to simply take the baby to an area where no one would see you breast-feeding or at least use a blanket to cover yourself. You don't have to just whip 'em out in the middle of the store.

Naturally they would die and sometimes their defective genes would stop and not be spread to others. With modern technology they can live normal lives and pass on their defective genes. Basically science is messing the natural selection of genes since with every generation we get more people with more defects and disorders.
User avatar #142 - reaperssprint (03/15/2014) [-]
It doesn't work like that. The genes aren't the problem in the sense that they are passed on. The problem is that the genes are damaged somehow. This will happen regardless of what the parent is like.

Defective genes do not simply disappear, they are present in each individual due to mutations from the environment. Its true that defective genes can make it more likely to have these occurrences through generations, but to say that they'd disappear without modern technology is just ignorant.

This post hits close to home for me because I was pregnant with twins I almost lost them twice. Once at 6 weeks and again at 22. If they had been delivered at 22 weeks, they would have so many physical and mental aliments that they would have only lasted a week, 2 tops.

I stand by my opinion and at the end f the day it is the parents and/or mother's choice on whether or not to terminate the pregnancy.
User avatar #118 - normilia (03/15/2014) [-]
Did I say that? NO!

User avatar #413 - mikepetru (03/15/2014) [-]
Well what makes the already born person more deserving to live than the one that hasn't been born yet? You're principles are inconsistent. If person with defects who hasn't been born yet should be killed in your opinion, why are ones who have already been born be excluded from such a "mercy?"

Really? That's what you think happened? Congress barely let Healthcare slip through, and now that it has, they're feverishly trying to take it back. You really think Congress would have let a declaration of war (which doesn't exist, we're not at war with Russia, that's just another petty scare people want as a reality to complain about) happen?

Kissing babies and shaking hands is one of the oldest political campaign strategies, it does exactly what you're saying they shouldn't do. Presidents always poise themselves in a way that endears them to whatever section of the populous they happen to be visiting, it is the way politics has been done. Its why politicians volunteer in soup kitchens during the campaign trail, and never again afterwards.
To single out this president for doing what other presidents have done seems intellectually dishonest.
I would much rather you engage in discussion about his stances and policies than just taking potshots. For all I know, you could be saying this about every politician of the past 40 years, but I'm used to seeing this kind of behavior in every comment section of every news article that is even remotely related to Obama.

So you're a fan for giving one man a majority of the power to run a country?

They have a word for that...I think Britain still has it.
User avatar #311 - bigmanfifty (03/12/2014) [-]
The US president has more power than the British prime minister btw
User avatar #125 - mikepetru (03/12/2014) [-]
I think you've forgotten the president can't declare war unless he gets a majority vote from Congress. Checks and Balances. Unfortunately, recent presidents seem to ignore this clause and Congress lets them get away with it. He wouldn't have a majority of power over the country, but I think as top executive of his government branch, he has the power/influence to overrule an attack order from a lesser rung on his branch.

You should do some more research before you criticize. He actually went on the show to plug Healthcare.gov. The show reaches a demographic which needs to sign up for healthcare for the ACA scheme to work. So he was doing his job. No scandal here folks.

A president going to the media in order to help his image is different from what other presidents have done and will do?
User avatar #122 - mikepetru (03/12/2014) [-]
A president should use the media in order to convey his political ideologies, not to make jokes. Sadly, the general populace seems to respond better to a good personality rather than good principles, so yes other presidents have done this in the past, but it doesn't make it right, nor is it wise for people to indulge them in these frivolous endeavors at gaining political support through a means completely unrelated to politics.

You just don't like Obama for your reasons stated earlier, and that dislike has blinded you, he's not on BTF for fun or on his own accord, he's plugging and advertising Obamacare to the younger generation who watch that show, which is alot. Every president ever down to your mayor does shit like this.
#113 - theseustheminotaur (03/12/2014) [-]
See, there is no winning with this kind of logic. "I'm glad he has the time for ..."

Every president took vacation, every president did stuff that wasn't part of their main job description. Get over it. If you want to attack his stances on issues do that, but don't make everything he does a reason for criticism.
User avatar #116 - mikepetru (03/12/2014) [-]
A vacation is a vacation, it has nothing to do with furthering his political career. Obama most likely agreed to do this video because as stated above, it would make him look like a cool, funny down to earth guy to general youtube audiences, thus scoring points with the American people.

It's confirmation bias. People like the guy, so they tend to shit themselves over the positive things he does, no matter how insignificant. The same goes in reverse, where people constantly have to bring up all of the bad shit he does to try and downplay anything good he does.
#119 - theseustheminotaur (03/12/2014) [-]
That is absolutely correct. People who dislike him will find any reason to, those who like him will find reasons to like him more. People seem to be unaware when they are exhibiting confirmation bias I have found.
