Are you aware you don't need to take a dog to the vet to give them their shots, though...? You can get them for about $6 to $12 at any Tractor Supply or other feed store for animals and livestock - you have to administer the vaccination yourself, but it's literally mixing one vial into another and then drawing it into a syringe and injecting it under the dog's skin...it comes with careful step-by-step instructions, and you can look up videos on youtube to see professional demonstrations on how to give them correctly so they'll be every bit as effective as when given by a licensed veterinarian -- the only vaccination that legally MUST be done by a vet is Rabies, but all others can be purchased and given by hand.

If you can afford to feed your dog at all, there's really no reason not to get them vaccinated... they need their shots to keep them alive and healthy every bit as much as they need food for the same purpose.

We've done all of our vaccinations (minus rabies) for almost 10 years. They still get regular vet care, but I don't see any need to pay $150+ for the same vaccination I can buy at the tractor supply store across the street for about ten bucks. Haven't had a pup get sick in that time, and we've raised and fostered at least a couple dozen or more by now...
