Actually, no.
Most of the time I can't afford to watch the movies I want until a few months later.
So when I WANT to see them, I download them, and when I want to own them and I have the money, I buy them.

But people saying it's stealing aren't entirely right.
The definition of stealing is "Take (another person's property) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it"
I'm not TAKING anything, I'm downloading a copy of something which someone else has bought. I didn't remove ownership of something, I didn't inconvenience anyone.

If that is your definition of stealing, then grabbing someone's notes in class, scanning it and printing it out is also considered theft.

#235 - microhendy (12/22/2012) [-]
Okay, so you don't buy them then. I'm okay with you saying that you download some of the shit you watch, but you really do have to accept that you're stealing it.

But what you're describing is considered theft. Because you're robbing the company that distributes the film of a potential few pounds. You may or may not buy the dvd or watch the film in the cinema, but when you download it illegally, you're definitely not going to buy it. You can't say 'well I wouldn't have bought it anyway' cause if you download it, there's something in your mind thats telling you that you want to watch this film, therefore some day, when you have money and the dvd is in front of you, you might have bought it.

Actually yeah, I'm pretty sure most of the stuff I've downloaded I've bought or rented to watch again with friends.
#232 - microhendy (12/22/2012) [-]
Well surely that negates the point of downloading it? Why would you do something illegal, with a chance of being caught and sentenced, when you're just going to buy it anyway?

And, btw, unless you bought every single one of the films you downloaded, it's still stealing, not borrowing.

I have one, and it is worth it. You see 2 films or more a month and it is worth the money.
Plus you go to see random films that only look half-decent just because you don't pay extra.
The last one i went to see ended up being amazing.

How, exactly, is it right to bomb thousands of civilians to kill one bad person, when you could send in a few soldiers to capture that one person, harming minimal people?

I just saw a sign at my local SubWay saying they are hiring, and I lost my most recent job about a month ago.

Is it worth it? or should I keep searching?

(Also, what kind of pay should be expected?)
#151 - ghostlespaul (08/30/2012) [-]
It depends on where you live. I live in the northbay of California and if you work at subway here, you're expected to make about $8-$10 ($8 is minimum wage here, although some people make less). You can keep searching (I personally don't enjoy jobs that involve food, but tha'ts just me) but that subway job seems stable.
User avatar #154 - Tusura (08/30/2012) [-]
I'm not a big fan of jobs involving food either, but at the moment I have to find something for an income. At least until something more stable comes along.
#160 - ghostlespaul (08/30/2012) [-]
I would go for the subway job then. The only downside is that they give you random working hours like theyll call you whenever they just need someone there they dont really have an organized schedule.
