Dunno what's like in other countries, but here in Italy Parmigiano Reggiano is DOP (protected origin), meaning that cheese can be called like that only if it has a certificate attesting it comes from those provinces and that's been crafted following certain standards.
This certificates indicates the type and quality of the cheese, so you're certain you're buying a tastier product.
I thought parmesan was like that even in other countries, here in Italy we're very proud and strict about the quality of our food.

Depression is purely biological, and has to do with an under-secretion of dopamine and an over-secretion of Serotonin. Clinical Depression is caused by an imbalance of dopamine, but can actually be solved without medication and is usually experienced by most adults at one point or another and is caused by emotional or metaphysical stress. SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is caused by your bodies inability to maintain it's homeostasis in the fall and winter months, causing a temporary chemical imbalance.

Well drug abuse is a good way to burn yourself out and leave yourself emotionally drained (Depending on the drug). Suicidal thoughts, believe or not, are not too far from the norm. It's not until they became ever prevalent, debilitating compulsions that they're a problem. Abusing drugs is common escapist behavior as well. You're taking the drugs because the reality that you have been presented with is not to your liking, so you prefer to slip into one that is more to your liking (I'm also a former drug addict, used to pop Xanax like candy).
