Ya,there's an episode where one of the guys talks about pi is a never-repeating, infinite number, and therefore, if numbers are associated with words, then theoretically everything is in the number pi. That's the only place I'd ever heard that, so I thought maybe that's where you'd heard it too.

A fan of Person Of Interest, I see? Theoretically, yes.

Well no, F= (GMm)/r^2, and since the radius seems to be about double that of earth, if the picture is accurate in that manner, then compared to earth we would see and increase by a factor of 7/(2^2), meaing 7/4, just under DOUBLE the gravity, which would still basically kill most people if they tried to live there, one way or another.
#110 - taraus (04/03/2014) [-]
I stand corrected on 2G outright killing us. However, any human machinery and agriculature would strugle, and have to be engineered with the higher gravity in mind, making life much, much harder.
User avatar #91 - megashot (04/02/2014) [-]
NASA did research on prolonged gravity effects on humans and found that we can adapt
ourselves to 2 and possibly 3 Gs, but bloodflow won't reach the brain properly at 4 Gs
therefore it is possible to colonize other planets with higher gravity
#66 - bigmanblue (04/02/2014) [-]
no it wouldnt
people can servive in higher g forces then that
hell most race cars can produce up to 4 g when turning corners and some military jets can produce more then that in straight line acceleration
1.75g would be considerably harder to live in then earth gravity but not impossible
you would just find it a lot harder to move and get exhausted faster but you wouldnt die from it
User avatar #62 - roninneko (04/02/2014) [-]
Uhh... buddy? 2 Gs is nowhere near fatal. People would grow a lot shorter, but their muscle tone and cardiovascular fortitude would be UNREAL.
User avatar #61 - tittylovin (04/02/2014) [-]
If we ever colonize it, we'll be creating a society of super strong manlets.

17.165ms^-2 so a 98kg man on earth would feel the weight of 171.4kg on that planet. 1682 Newtons on it, vs 961.4N earth
Which is nearly my max bench press and I couldn't imagine carrying that on my back everyday. Let alone the average person...!
User avatar #50 - messerschmidto (04/02/2014) [-]

Double gravity would make life pretty difficult, but I'm not sure it would kill you. Most likely shorten your lifespan, though. Maybe we'd be able to cope after a few generations.
