| I disagree, my setup is a couple years old currently and it runs perfectly fine on medium settings. Medium still looks really good and I'm running at steady 80-90+ fps dips slightly during high action, but the dips are really not bad at all in this game | ||

anon (12/12/2015) [-] I've got mixed view on crossfit. All you see on the internet is idiots who don't possess enough knowledge on how muscles work, grow, strengthen and repair. But then my friend, the reason I started lifting, started it a few months ago. He's 90kg (198lbs) and he's getting significantly stronger since he started. He can bench, deadlift and squad over 150% of what he used to be able to, and he's noticeably fitter on the football pitch too. If done right, it can turn you from an aesthetically pleasing toned human into a strong, powerful, efficient and fit one. If done right, it's really effective. This is exactly right. I'm an engineering student in the military, and I hold two workout sessions a week that I've designed myself which are largely influenced by crossfit. Mainly, the sessions focus on core strength, calisthenics and training with one's own body weight, performing exercises such as jumping burpees, 4-second pushups, dips and simulated pullups, along with many more exercises aimed at training different aspects of the body. The session's intensities are high, with few breaks and a lot of sweat. I used to lift weights 3 - 5 times a week all throughout high school, but I've never been in as a good shape as when I began implementing anaerobic strength training into my regime. 40 minutes of absolute hell; basically all of your body is on fire and you have an extremely high pulse (at times around zone 4/zone 5), but damn does it get you in good shape. Crossfit haters don't know shit. It's an approach to strength training that was actually started by a group of marines with the goal of making people "fit to fight", and it fucking works IF, as you already stated, it's done correctly. People who pump iron for volume are pussies compared to those who combine explosive strength training with anaerobic strength training, because the latter are more versatile and optimized most of the time. Yes, it is perceived as real. They just use some complex movements to do too much that in the end is not going to show off any result, just tire the person carrying the workout too fast. Like, imagine doing 10 "Olympian weightlifting". Sounds fun, but it stresses too much on the vertebrae, Let's just give this other video as an example of "XFIT PullUps!" He said he will do 100 something pull-ups, I wonder how many he did correctly. #64 -
urs (12/12/2015) [-] You know, there is something I tend to disagree on people who attack crossfit. Just let them do it, let them crossfit, let them attract other idiots in their circlejerk, let them get hurt, let them find out the hard way what a torn muscle feels like. They will never "XFIT" again. Probably, some will never get fit again, but I would love to see people who workout seriously to just leave those idiots be. I had a guy at the gym I used to work for and he said that my training techniques were "not complex enough" and he was doing something along the lines of "Butterfly Olympian Weightlifting" (I can still recall the seriousness in his face when he said it); basically, you put lift the bar in a snatch and then when you reach full arm extent, you jump with the bar above your head. He had to be carried out because he dislodged a disk of his vertebrae. He weighed about 70 kgs (154 pounds for those who don't want to convert to metric master race) and the thing he was lifting also weighed 60kg+15kg (165 pounds). #121 -
anon (12/12/2015) [-] Crossfit refuses to die because it works. Now bear with me, I know you want to hit the red thumb, but id want to too. Crossfit is NOT an efficient workout, crossfit is NOT safe; that said, if you go use and use a bunch of muscles every day (even if its to have spazms all over the workout equipment) eventually youll end up pretty fit. People see results and go 'oh shit that work-out routine works!' but they dont realize it's the discipline of going every day for long periods and not the routine itself. #113 -
urs (12/12/2015) [-] From a land where the mountains, the sea and plateaus meet. Where the glorious, kind and giving people are considered something other than what they truly are once they cross their borders. A place where history was written as the wall that stopped the Ottoman advance in the first centuries. Romania. We shouldn't tell people what they can and can't do as long as it's legal , but we should warn them when they do something stupid/dangerous. If there's someone who refuses to listen to professionals, let them, but if they try to convince people who don't understand we should try to stop them no one should get hurt because of someone else's stupidity . A liberal point of view (no political shit involved in my statement) where you let anyone do whatever they want as long as they are the only ones getting hurt would mean a lot less stupid people in this world. But, in some places (gyms) if an idiot gets hurt there, regardless if they used the contraption and/or weights wrongfully, they still can sue and in some cases even win. A coroner can determine what aparatus was used, but he can't determine all the time if it was used wrongfully. That's the only problem I see here. Again, as long as they aren't hurting anyone else but themselves, they should just get hurt - and pay for any damage caused while they're at it. | ||

| CrossFit is catalogued as a "core conditioning and fitness program" which uses complex movements for blablabla it's just a shit excuse for idiots who can't lift correctly, they do something in a chaotic way focusing on numbers of reps rather than correctness and form. See comment >>#5 for an example. #82 -
rexxxar (12/12/2015) [-] To be fair, if done correctly Crossfit can be extremely beneficial, since it focuses more on a wide array of musclegroups, including the small muscles used for e.x balance, it gives a very throuhough workout. It is great for people that want to burn fat, get slim, and get more musclestrength, compared to "normal" lifting that focuses more on getting a lot of weight put on certain musclegroups. This is all said with emphasis on "if done correctly" the sad truth is that most crossfit goers are hideously bad at it and just fuck themselves up as shown in the hilarious pullup video you linked. Crossfit itself can be good, but most of the practitioners and coaches have no clue about how the body works unfortunately. I have some friends that did a lot of crossfit, and was lucky enough to find a gym where the coach knew what he was doing, they gained a lot of musclestrength, burned fat, got a great shape and also prevented injuries by also working out the less-known musclegroups, especially the core and lower back #91 -

| I wouldn't cal it Englsih. It's Basic. Also, who knows? It could sound completely different than what we speak. Take a look at the writing in Star Wars, it looks more like Chinese writing. Their language could sound much different than ours, and all we are hearing is just the translation of it. #71 -
