Brodadda, the characters somewhat resemble the character's ingame sprites, including their primary colors used in the comic presented here, the exact same as in the comic.
The person got red thummie-wummies because people didn't understand what he meant, because homestuck is not nearly as relevant as it was anymore and didn't get nearly as much of a circlejerk as Undertale has on this site.

I absolutely fucking hate homestuck. like, on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is most hated and 1 is least hated, homestuck is like a fifty. The author is a decent enough writer, but is spending so much time dicking with his readers that his story has stopped becoming cohesive. not because it's challenging to understand or anything like that, but because he starts contradicting himself and then saying "loltimetravel."

there's rapid scene transitions with literally no explaination as to how or why. there was one section where it flipped over to an alternate universe in the middle of a conversation and then never picked up the conversation again. and it wasn't a conversation about something you'd keep hush hush.

the character design is quite shitty, and the story as a whole - cycling back to it being noncohesive - is convoluted. it started out very simple and had an idea you could get behind, but developed into something that literally killed my braincells while reading it.

and don't get me started on the fucking fandom. people like merrrione who just find some reason to inject it into anything with any little tiny foothold (example, this girl wears glasses, has black hair, and talks in the color green. OMG HOMESTUCK!) are literally the least worst part of this fandom. a few years ago a friend of mine tried to create a cult around the stupid sburb game purely to get into freshman panties, and it worked.

Here's a little brakedown of why your salty.

Getting mad about a plotline is just a you problem. Honestly, if you don't like his style of writing or something, then thats no biggie. But to be honest playing with relationships in a story includes a plot element, by 'dicking with readers' you mean plot twists, right ? Those are also some things that happen regularly in storys, comics, games, etc. Yeah, its cohesive, but its gotten ass-draggingly hard to follow. If you wan't to just read a twenty-page explanation of the bullshit, go ahead, but if you don't like the comic, your not inclined to call it 'bad' just because of a plot that is too hard to follow in your eyes. Yeah, there's time travel, but there's character development and story arcs involved, and by 'time travel' you realize that most people there completely retain their memories, right ? Even the alternate universe Dave transformed into Davesprite, and the 'time traveling' that happened was a major element in the story. If you didn't like it, then just don't read it ? Yeah, he isn't really contradicting anything, because that's just what time travel IS, and people in the comic use it reverse things like completely failing their quest, or to solve a mystery, or to generally 'fix things'. Even then, character death is never completely reversed. Scene transitions don't really work how you think they are. Sub-plots are another major story element, and if you don't understand them, then the most obvious example would be Brian and Stewies random conversations or events that happen in most of the episodes ( not counting episodes revolving around them ) . Also, cutting of from something 'you normally wouldn't keep hush hush ' is just building tension or suspense, even going as far to say its building reverse dramatic irony ( Regular being the reader knows something the characters don't, like how in horror movies where we know the killer is up the stairs and yell at the character in question to not go up the stairs, but obviously, its fruitless.) It's also played where the characters in the story know something the reader doesn't, thus building suspense and tension, trying to convice the reader in question to continue being interested in the book. The character design is a debatable topic. There are flat,static,round,and dynamic characters.The 'main characters' in question being the four humans, twelve trolls, and the other four humans revealed later in the comic respectively all have massively different personalities, most of them evolving into their own character arcs ( Getting over knowing you could be destined to fail, self-respect issues, abusive parenting, getting over the death of a loved one, etc. ) and more have all been presented and putten thought into. The characters are so vastly different to have a character you could call your favorite, or someone you could relate to, or to be able to play with love triangles, also to try and keep the reader interested ( hey look, its another thing a lot of popular storys do ). You mention that the story is convoluted, a more negative connotation of 'complicated' , both meaning the story has a lot of depth and may be hard to work around at times. Many books play upon this fact, as some almost being a challenge to read the main selling point. While that may or may not be the purpose of it happening in Homestuck in question, it has a definite presence. Also, hating something because YOUR FRIEND built something around it just to manipulate people.. doesn't make any sense at all ? If anything, it sounds like your jealous you didn't get a part of the action, or if you were AGAINST manipulating something people are passionate about, you simply hate what your friend DID. So either your mislooking a terrible action that your friend committed, or you see it from a moral standpoint as totally okay and you just wish you had gotten there in time. Niether of these have anything to do with homestuck.

3:57 starts the making of the kids and their guardians in pre-scratch existence.
The clones of their guardians that John made are actually Jake, Roxy, Dirk, and Jane for the post-scratch, as its explained that one of the jobs of each Sburb sessions ectobiologist is to create those used in the games fail-safe (which is the scratch).

Seriously all the wiki does is act like the fans and basically say "OH MUH GUD EVERYTHING IS SO LIKE, COMPLICATED. I CANT EVEN KEEP TRACK OF WHO IS RELATED."
While I will admit it is seriously convoluted and confusing, its definitely not as bad as people claim it to be.
I will also mention that the fandom ruined it for me. I can still enjoy it, but you can tell their shitting way of trying to step in and try and take control of what is happening, and them getting so attached to the trolls, who are 90% fucking boring has basically ruined what the comic had going for it.
