| I personally liked it more when everyone knew what was going on, because then each succeeding game stacked on to the enjoyment. the winner of any game of Mao gets to arbitrarily make a new rule he doesn't have to reveal save for penalizing someone for breaking it in succeeding games. But then you don't get the enjoyment of goading over everyone else's frustration for having to learn it from scratch... | ||

| Not him, but I too dislike skyrim. It's just so shallow. None of the NPC's have any life to them, the main quest feels like a chore, Alduin is a joke, the dungeons are way too similar in many ways, draugrs everywhere, elements from previous games were removed, such as spell-crafting, classes I know this one is very subjective , a lot of skills, and so on. The guild quests were also very disapointing. Do five quests and you were the leader of the faction, even though the people in guild just met you. Oh, and you could become the leader of every guild at the same time. There were many great things about the game too, but over all it's just so plain. It was vast as an ocean, but deep as a puddle. A lot of people disliked Skyrim? I find that hard to believe. And it's most likely he's complaining about comparing two different franchises with two (somewhat) different gameplay styles (Elder Scrolls and Fallout). I am complaining about the playstyles. In New Vegas, while admittedly not a deep combat system, you had to be smart about it, you had limited AP and you had to make it count with VATS, whereas in Skyrim, you swing, get a breath, swing, get a breath, burn'em with magic, drink a potion, swing, win at life. I prefer New Vegas's (slightly) tactical playstyle over Skyrim's "swing and be king" playstyle. #64 -
leifbunny (11/05/2015) [-] -factions are too short to care about They are completely self encapsulated, and worse, Take less than a couple hours of "run here, get that, bring it home." -free heath restoration and zero difficulty Even legendary is a simple walk through the story. -even less customization than its' predecessors without 9001 GB worth of mods You used to be able to make your own spells, and armor used to be in slots of helm/left shoulder/right shoulder, left hand, right hand, chest, pants, left foot, right foot, ring, ring. There used to be over 10 different weapon types and the way you swung them mattered. -"puzzles" that make you wonder if the rest of the world is ever so slightly retarded in some way. Two words: Dragon Claws -feel like a bumbling idiot who was born 5 seconds before the game starts because you have the skill level of someone who just fell out of the womb and knows how to do nothing well, despite looking middle aged? Oh but hey! Magic rocks that define what you'll be good at! That TOTALLY saves it! ....Right? -seem to know next to nothing about the world around him/her even though, again, clearly middle aged. -NPCs fight just by stupidly charging in and falling to your 20000th cinematic killing strike in this session alone -They pretty much hand you the entire country on a platter because you have a type of magic that is slightly different than the typical TES fare. I can run fast! So can mages with a handcrafted speed increasing spell. Oh yeah? Well... I can... summon a dragon! Yeah. Conjuration is a whole school of magic, dude. Oh. But... I can breath fire and Ice! And a mage can just cast a fire or ice spell with better precision because it's not coming out of their face, clouding their vision. Shouts aren't even that interesting, seeing as they're quite literally rebranded spells with a vaguely norwegian name scheme. And I know, that's cherry picking, for which I am sorry, but I'm making a point. There truly are some interesting ones, like the force push- sorry, unrelenting force.... push. And the weather effects, which, while not new in design, are still pretty fun, those I cannot pick on, nor do I want to. But previous games had interesting spells that skyrim no longer has, like levitation. Waterwalking used to be an everyday spell. Burden and feather are gone. Jump is gone. Open/lock spells are gone. Hell, spellcrafting in general is gone. You used to be able to create your own spells, set their power and effects, durations and targets, all while the game calculated how strong you'd need to be to use it! There was even a chance to fail casting it if you weren't skilled enough! Failure was a possiblity and that added character. Sometimes, failing a spell adds to immersion. And for what, a few "innovations" like "5 different names for the same shield spell but with more power!" or "I'm like paralyze, but with ashes instead!" Oh joy. Yes. The majority of why I personally hate Skyrim is because I miss being a mage and that actually mattering, not just some hulking wall of muscle that tunnels through other walls of enemy forces. I felt smart for sneaking up on a mage and silencing him, or earwigging him, making him helpless. Or, an old personal favorite: Making a spell that paralyzes a foe while filling them with poison. A last resort, sure, but damn it felt great. Sure, it was easier to be a mary sue, but that option was in your hands, not the dev's. TES is about being your own person. And Skyrim cut out a good 90% of that, even without the magic variety. They didn't fix earlier game's balancing issues either, they just gave the OPness to warrior builds. But hey! Look look! Dragons! Oh boy! I'm not saying the prior games were perfect. Morrowind suffered a terrible dice roll system for fights. Oblivion's leveling was broken. now i remembered why i disliked oblivion so much, it was the leving system, it was so retarded... -what do you mean by factions exactly? like the companions and shit? -i must be the worst player ever then, because freaking adept kicks my ass regularly -point taken -some makes sense, others dont, you not knowing about the war is kinda stupid - since im playing squishy meeles, i have that done to me alot,(i even have a mod to stop that from hapenning to me) -i do not normaly play mages, so i was kinda glad i could simply use it whenever i wanted well that was my take on it, i think a lot of newcomers liked skyrim more then oblivion because it was simplyfied... meh, i may buy oblivion again and play it, although i might have some issues with -the wheel minigame(seriusly who thought that was a good idea?) -camera zooming in so close when i wanna chat with somebody(mah imergion) -broken leving systems or maybe i buy fallout 3 after im done with fallout 4 and wait for the mods to come out, who knows I'm personally not salty against Skyrimjob, but to prefer Skyrim's playset over New Vegas is simply absurd. That was because of limitations of the engine. The game mechanics and side quests were way better.

merrrione (11/04/2015) [-] the head should be 1/8 of total height 3/8 should be taken up by the torso the remaining half by the legs pic related, it's from the guy who came up with it (his body and legs are bent, so it's slightly shorter) notice how the legs start at the belly button that means like 6/10 of bayonetta is legs, rather than 4/8 bayonetta's legs are also crossed, so they're EVEN LONGER

| The whole point of Mao is that no ones supposed to know how to play it. I learned the rules at one point, but then you start to realize that it's only ever a special sort of person who plays a game centered around "us vs. them" exclusion. It's fun as balls if you play with a tight knit group after multiple games, though, because then what you're making fun of is actually good natured. I personally liked it more when everyone knew what was going on, because then each succeeding game stacked on to the enjoyment. the winner of any game of Mao gets to arbitrarily make a new rule he doesn't have to reveal save for penalizing someone for breaking it in succeeding games. | Yeah, the game's really tough if you don't learn to use both weaknesses instead of just one, since (as we just talked about) there are enemies with no elemental weakness. Hold down the button to change targets to see what type of enemy you're facing. Then go to the artes menu and look, especially the martial arts when not armatized and the hidden arts when armatized. Each one tells you what they do bonus damage to. Find one(s) that does bonus damage to the enemy type that you're fighting and use it in your combo. Different armatizations have different enemy type advantages, so I usually do this right at the start of the battle and select the armatization with the earliest damage type advantage. Elemental weakness is still important, of course, but even if they have an elemental weakness you can get a bigger power combo by hitting them with both the correct element and the correct enemy type instead of just one or the other. Skills are totally up to preference IMO. Certainly can't go wrong with spamming stats. Other than the obvious stuff (Fire damage on Layla, Water on Mikleo, vs Dragon when you're fighting a dragon, etc) I like all the blast gauge increasing skills. You can get to the point where every attack you dodge gives you nearly a full blast gauge. But they're all good. Right now I'm trying to see if I can get enough damage-negation and defense-healing to make it so that blocking attacks always heals me. | ||

| Except the idea that you have to give away your freedom in exchange for security is a stupid notion not based in actuality. The U.S. Constitution Not the United States how it is, but how it's supposed to be is a good example of a government that provides security without sacrificing freedom as per my definition of freedom. | ||
