 Except police can't do jack shit other than cuff you if you drop your weapon and surrender peacefully. Maybe push you on the ground to cuff you, but anything else is assault. Police can use "As much force as necessary." To detain a suspect. I don't know about you but I'm going to ahead and assume that he didn't just put down his weapon, throw his hands up and shout "I'm the criminal take me in." like he's trying to claim he did, if this story even happened. | ||

| Not all cops carry Tasers. You must not know very many cops. As well cas comment 38's point. A taser is only good for one assailant and that's only if the charge connects with the subject. They've been known to not work 100% of time because the current doesn't complete because one or both of the prongs fail to connect. #30 -

hairybaboon (12/24/2015) [-]  Pardon me here, but non-lethal solutions abound. And depending on the person being subdued, different methods work better or worse. I'm just going to go through your ideas of nonlethal take downs. 1) Non lethal rounds: Very few police agencies have everyday officers equipped with non lethal rounds 2) Pepper spray: This can help bring down assailants but it by no means guarantees it. 3) Shields: When is a shield ever going to be available in a non riot scenario. 4) Shoot the leg: NO. An officer is taught o only EVER aim for center mass when firing at a target. Aiming for the legs puts anybody else in the area at risk and even then is not a guaranteed non lethal strike.  It was all fine and dandy until years later. One of the people who signed it got really into Christianity. Then one of her friends reminded her that she sold her soul.
