Trust me, testers HATE their jobs.
It's not like you get to play Super Mario Galaxy or Halo every day. Rather, there's a 9/10 chance it's shovelware. I mean, somebody has to test "Super Barbie Adventure 2 Pony Battle", right?
And then, when you're playing that game, you have to make sure to do whatever the programmers have told you to. This can often mean running against a particular wall in Level 3 for an hour or inputting a very precise combination of buttons with split-second accuracy.
If you don't find a bug, great. But if you do (which is more than likely), you need to write a report, saying exactly how it happened, all the debug values you can grab, and since the programmers are often so aloof that they couldn't accept their precious Spongebob Shovelware Showcase piece of shit might have a flaw, they'll have you replicate it up to ten times to "get a better idea of what's happening."
Worse, if you work for EA the programmers just ignore you cause they're overworked as it is.

Oh yeah. Also, if you've not found any bugs, your boss pretty much thinks you're lying unless it's the last 2 months of development.
And if you ever get into it, don't try and offload your ideas on the programmers - they'll either hate you, or completely laugh at how unfeasible it is.
