He got it from a coffeeshop, i doubt they'll give you more drugs just for the hell of it.

They already mix it with some shit to give it a stronger trip.

well if it's mixed with some shit then that shit is probably what made the kid get a heart attack
his system probably rejected whatever chemicals they put in that weed
i fucking hate it when they put some amoniac in my weed never getting from that dealer again

Marijuana smoking can increase your heart rate by 20 to 100 percent. The increase in hearth rate can give certain people up to almost 5 times the risk of heart attack they would normally have.

Lacing it with stuff, as you said, only increases the risk.

only times i felt my heart rate change was when the weed had some other shit mixed in
other than that it was fine

Ok. That's good to hear that your experience hasn't led to an extreme heart rate increase. Other people, like those in the studies cited at the bottom of the website I sourced, experienced that effect. I'm not trying to say pot is more dangerous than pother drugs like alchohol, I'm just saying that just because people don't OD on it doesn't mean it can't have negative health effects or kill you.

#159 - kinginyellow (01/27/2014) [-]
Ya the big thing though is that it's kinda safe for a drug. Alcohol and tobacco can be hell on the body and so can weed just to a lesser extent. And it's one of those things like tobacco where you have to be aiming to OD to actually succeed, if it's possible even. There was just a ridiculous amount needed to OD.

Yeah, I'm not super worried about the people OD'ing. I'm not even worried that much about the physical health effects when weed is prescribed and regulated. (Self medicating from a street dealer is a different story though) The problem with prescription marijuana is that it's far too easy for someone to have it prescribed to them. I would support medical legalization if that problem were more well-addressed.

I'm more worried the mental effects of pot. It can be addictive, it slows motor function and reaction time, it lowers inhibitions, it can make certain people more prone to anger, and long term use can result in a wide range of issues including memory problems and decreased cognitive function. It can have a lot of the same mental effects of alcohol. People who drive high can be a real problem, just like drunk drivers.

The other thing that gets on my nerves is stoner culture. Not every stoner is part of that culture. (You seem pretty reasonable, for instance.) But nonetheless, stoner culture is pretty widespread. It encourages laziness, carries a "fuckdapolice" mindset, and members of the stoner culture are more likely to become addicted and/or try harder drugs.

About what I just said though, There hasnt been a whole lot of research on stoner culture vs. casual smokers. I've had a lot of experiences with stoner culture members, and none of them were good. They were extremely hostile to anyone who didn't smoke pot, and always preached on that "pot would create world peace" and usually thought of themselves as superior without ever actually working hard at anything. The vast majority of them also got into harder drugs such as LSD, ecstasy, and crack as they became juniors and seniors in highschool. I'm pretty sure all of them ended up dropping out or going to community college as well.

That's not scientific research, just my experience. I don't expect anyone to accept my experience as scientific fact, but I would like to see some studies done on stoner culture.

I dunno, man, try heading to Rochester, the city's pretty bad in parts. Highest murder rate per capita, and what not. The suburbs are nice as balls, though. But the city is awful, yeah.

#196 - noschool (01/16/2014) [-]
well saying "America is going metric next year." is a pretty bold statement based on office gossip, but if it is true it will certainly make headlines.
