oh wow ANOTHER 240 with an sr couldnt afford the black top i guess?

im jk i miss my 89 coupe with the little bitty ca18 with a gt28, 440cc, injectors, front mount, straight through exhaust. not much but it was a fun street car. that was back before tokyo drift came out and everyone started nabbing sr's for theirs. my buddy still has his from back then, a hatch with the zilla in it. nice car!

510 is epic. was never big in uk sadly. was replaced by 610 (bluebird) which was waaay more popular probably cause it has a slight muscle car look to it.
#340 - biddo (09/02/2013) [-]
i always thought of the b210 as a baby nova lol. id take any of them as long as its rwd.

they were awesome. shame the sunny name became about as popular as mud with the b310. later sunny's were all horrible too. at least the B13 while still ugly had a great chassis compared to the old ones. still FF drive though. they use the chassis in a 100NX (NX Coupe) so you can at least get something that looks slightly less ugly with it :p though the front end of a 100NX.... Euuughh :p

That is beautiful!! Reminds me a bit of the Barracuda my dad used to have. till the family was getting bigger and he swapped some guy for a 6 year old buick century. this was in about 1988. few years after i was born. In UK too so both cars were imports and LHD. so when ever we overtook someone he had to ask my mum if the road ahead was clear lol
#323 - karson (09/02/2013) [-]
yeah, 'cuda's are bad mother fuckers. And that's pretty crazy about the whole LHD thing in the UK. respect though, I don't think I have the coordination to drive RHD haha. here's a pic of the interior.

#325 - LePedobear (09/02/2013) [-]
that it magnificent. manual too. in uk everyone drives manual but for normal driving I prefer au ya know? just stick it in drive and go. though If i had something with real power like that obviously Id want a manual. instead of a big heavy auto tranny with less gears weighing it down. Iv noticed a lot of modern cars are auto but with like 6 gears. so not so bad anymore. and things like the GT-R are auto only but with paddle shifters. which i like. can shift waaay faster than I could. still seems weird not being able to get a version with a clutch though. when you have that much power you really wanna be in direct control of it!
#328 - karson (09/02/2013) [-]
My farm truck is an au I only like manual transmissions on sports cars and the like. yeah I've driven a newer corvette that had the paddle shifters, and I'm not a fan of it. it's neat, shifts faster than I could possibly hope to with a stick, and is fast as hell, but at the end of the day, nothing is more fun to drive than a stick.

That really is beautiful. lotta work must have gone into it. you live in a really nice place too! I live in the middle of Leeds, full of crime and nasty people. always glass on the street and people starting trouble. setting things on fire and breaking into houses. It really is nasty around here lol. cant afford insurance on my wheels so it just sits in the back yard. TBH I go everywhere on an electric bike that I built. not got any pics on here. might have some on FB but it would probably bore you lol. I have a messed up sleep problem but it works out well cause I go for early morning rides out away from the city. at like 6AM or 5AM. while its still quiet. tbh at 6:30AM the roads start getting busy. but as its coming towards autumn theres less and less light in the morning. its best in June. can go out at 4:30AM and its bright and dead outside. see maybe 2 people which is good. I have a social phobia. yikes im babbling on a bit lol. anyway. Awesome ride! bet you have people coming up taking pictures lol
#332 - karson (09/02/2013) [-]
we started out with a burnt out shell and a blown up engine. the previous owner drag raced it and it caught fire, and he just junked it. it ended up being parted out a lot. we found it, scavenged parts off of other mustangs, and took it from there, everything is all original mustang parts, but only the dash/instrument panel, seats, and frame is original. everything else was taken off of other dead mustangs. it took about 2 and a half years to build. She is affectionately known as Frankie, in reference to Frankensteins monster. I'm sure you can understand why, lol. and yes, I don't really like how much attention it gets, anytime we go out I'm like an overprotective father. if we go into a restaurant to eat, I will park right up front and usually ask for a window booth closest to where the car is parked, and I will keep guard over it throughout the meal. and ugh, one of our family friends daughters asked if she could have a "few" friends come over and take pictures with the car for their High School prom. i figured it wasn't a big deal. about 40 damn people came over, and they took pictures of them leaning all over the car and shit, which wasn't a big deal, but the girls were wearing bracelets and shit, so it was almost scratching the paint. needless to say I flipped shit. and I do like where I live, a city is right down the river a few miles, we live in a farming community, and it stays nice and quiet. You don't really get too bored either, because the city is only about a 20 minute drive away. but where I live is so quiet, I can drive somewhere in the middle of the day and not see another soul. you'd probably like it, haha. But I used to have to get up a 4 am to drive to school when I was in the high school ROTC back when. driving early in the morning with no one around is about as close to nirvana as I can get. and I totally get your social phobia thing. I can be quite the introvert myself sometimes.

damn that's a lot of work. my dads barracuda was basically building 1 good one out of 2 knackered ones. so he had to go around getting parts. in the 70s though. so its basically phoning up garages that might have some imports. and if they do that particular car. it would be like you looking for spare parts for an old vauxhall astra lol. though GM probably had an equivalent over there. that takes the piss having kids all over it. and be like WHOA! back the f**k up now!! step away from the paint job!! I like the idea of living just outside of town. nice peaceful area but close enough to have access to all the stuff a city has. I live about 1 mile from the city centre and about half a mile from leeds university which has about 20,000 students.. so its rarely quiet.

#338 - karson (09/02/2013) [-]
yeah, but it was all worth it in the end. I did end up telling them to back up. I came in the back yard and yelled "STOP LEANING ON MY DAMN CAR!" and they backed up. of course I am known as a huge asshole now, but seriously, fuck them. I can imagine finding parts was a pain, haha. before Frankie we restored a 1926 chevy coupe, and there were literally no parts to be found for it. most of the parts for it we made ourselves, since most of the the interior is just a wooden frame with leather stretched over top. but that car has the original engine, and wooden spoke wheels. windows too. a lot of stuff on it is original, actually. what is insane to me is that the seats are original, they're 87 years old, but they look and feel brand new. and yeah, I absolutely love where I live. 30 minute drive from the beach as well. you can't beat it, really. and I bet that really sucks, haha.

thats awesome. My dad always loved american cars. or Yankees as he called them. over they years he has had loads of em. and there has been a lot of years. he fought in WW2 lol. he once had this old as hell american thing with long bench seats in it. and a really really old thing. some weird unheard of company. forget what it was but he got it cheap cause it was orange with rust. was just surface rust though. he bought a buffering machine and sandpaper discs. got it all smooth and shiny and sold it. used the money as a deposit for our house in about 1970 :p

but my daily driver is a 2014 focus ST. Pretty fun car, must say.

you liking it? I have a brz (posted above) but still appreciate a ST whenever I see one
User avatar
#318 - karson (09/02/2013) [-]
yeah, I'm in love, no doubt. I almost got a BRZ, test drove the ST and the BRZ in the same day, slept on it, ended up deciding on the ST. both drive like they're on rails. I really liked the overall look of the BRZ, but I went with the ST because I usually hang out with a bunch of friends most of the time, and I could only fit myself and my gf inside the BRZ. And at the end of the day, I already had a pretty badass 2 door car (mach 1 posted above) so I decided on the ST. It was a really tough call. I'm not going to bother mentioning the BRZ's lack of torque, because let's be honest, who leaves their car stock anyways?
#322 - GIRforpresident (09/02/2013) [-]
super valid. I'm trying to think of my first mod, but i see a tarbo in my future. I've had some friends sit in back, and I now see the rear seats were made for double amputees. 4 doors more whores.

yeah, I did some research about it. the turbo kit's make them monsters, that's for sure. have they cracked the ECU yet? last I checked they hadn't and you'd have to tune them with chips, like back in the 90's, lol. But I'd recommend a catback exhaust, CAI, and tune. all at once, if possible, since if you have to buy a chip you're gonna have to order a chip specifically designed for the exhaust and CAI combo you use. I'm going to buy a cobb AP V3 tuner sometime within a month or so. Then after that I'm going to get a CAI, and full exhaust. I've heard that the ST with a full exhaust, CAI, and tune that would increase the turbo to about the 19 PSI range would give the car about 400 hp, and to be honest, I don't think I'm going to push it much past that. I'm trying to keep it a daily driver. Also, for the most part, the BRZ has 4 seats because insurance is less on a 4 seater car than a 2 seater car.
User avatar
#327 - GIRforpresident (09/02/2013) [-]
to my knowledge it's just the chip. where abouts are you from? i'm NYC for the year and i've also been looking into the catback too, but i may have to blow my money on a decent radar detector. and the insurance bit makes sense.
#329 - karson (09/02/2013) [-]
that still strikes me as very odd. are any companies even working on cracking the ECU? and I'm from North Carolina. plenty of back roads thru the forest to have fun in .
I'm on the fence about a radar detector. for the most part, most of the roads I speed on are wide open, and I could see a cop coming miles away, long before I am in radar range. and yup, good old subaru looking out for their customers

Man, mine's a beaut, but it's so difficult to find parts because they only made it for two years, and it seems they changed it up a little in '98...
(mine's a stock photo as well, but once we get the cosmetics done, I'll be snapping photos like a mad man.)

I've been in CLs and TLs, my father is a manager at an Acura dealership. The CLs are neat, but just imagine your CL with more weight to it, and more than enough horsepower to compensate. Nothing compares to it. The CL is a keeper, but if you find a Gen 2 Legend, I have never been in an Acura that compares to it. I'd pounce on it. They are impossible to find in good shape though. I got lucky and caught one at 70k mileage, and perfect shape, just needed a paint job on the hood. The thing is a monster. I enjoy raping the civics that try to act tough around a '94.

#185 - commandwolf (09/01/2013) [-]
Man, the interior on the CL is just gorgeous for such a small car.
How's the interior on the Legend?
#188 - ccryder (09/01/2013) [-]
Full leather, it looks gorgeous, but it's brutal. Summer, way too hot; winter, way too cold. Still awesome though, just have to treat it occasionally to avoid cracking.
User avatar
#189 - commandwolf (09/01/2013) [-]
yeah, I hear ya with the leather.
Luckily, the CL is the premium package, so it's got electric heated seats!
doesn't help in the summer, however...

yeah, helps a lot.

But man, it surprises me how little you hear about Acura. Fairly under the radar for how much quality they throw in their cars.
#192 - ccryder (09/01/2013) [-]
To be honest, I'm not a fan of the newer cars they are putting out. The new TLs and TSXs do nothing for me, and RL stopped impressing me after the late 90s model. The late 90s RL might be the only Acura I'd consider getting after my Legend, but I prefer the Accord frame on the legend and I can live without the little extra 3.5. I've been in everything from Subarus to VWs, and I have to say, that Legend is my favorite. Acura may not impress me now, but goddamn did they make one hell of a car at one point
