 I would say in general focus more on free weights that serve as compound exercises (benchpress,squats,deadlifts) even if you have to start really light. Machines tend to focus on one or two muscles, without allowing you to engage your stabilizer muscles. Stabilizer muscles are muscles you use when doing your average, natural, everyday lifting and moving of objects, so it only makes sense you would want to do exercises that engage your whole body. Idk if you're interested in just recovering or if you wanna go all-out and build muscle, but this has been working quite well for me lately. Went from deadlifting 135lbs to 190lbs in about 40 days. stronglifts.com/5x5/  Normally the machines have little guides on the side there but most you should be able to figure out easily. If you're completely new than it's better to start with machines so you can learn form and build a bit of muscle especially if you're going in straight out of surgery don't go in straight out of surgery . Free weights are obviously better since they work the minuscule muscles that machines tend to neglect. Also clean up your sweat after your done with the machine that's the biggest one I think on etiquette.  This will give you a program and show you how to do all the lifts as well as nutrition shit. liamrosen.com/fitness.html | ||
