 Swimming is as good cardio as running, so it would work as a fat burner, not much of a muscle builder. Well if you have no muscle to start with swimming is a good muscle builder as well, so yes. | ||

| All right, Basically if your main goal is to lose weight you just have to worry about your diet. You can easily shave a few pounds of fat by cutting soda, juice and coffee out of your diet as well as increasing your water intake (the water intake is for the sake of your general health, not decreasing weight). Easiest way to burn fat is by running, but since you want to gain muscle you may as well lift weights while you're at it. Here read this liamrosen.com/fitness.html Parts 3 and 4, as well as the Q&A should be enough but i recommend reading just about the whole page anyways. Really doesn't matter what you do. As long as you lift hard and consistently you will lose that weight. However if you really want to make some sick gains you'll need a specific workout-routine and diet; it'll take a very long time, a year or two, of natty lifting to get swole. I recommend you look up starting strength, but there are several work-out routines out there that will work fine for you. Just remember that you need proper form, rest, and diet along with patience and perseverance. Any questions?
