manollette (01/29/2015) [-] Yeah, definitely looking sharp. I've been trying to get into airbrushing too. Got a Badger Patriot 105 and an Eclipse HP-CS. Both seem great for basecoating and broad work, but it splatters a lot when you try to get detail work done...I'm looking at an Iwata TRN2 now, since it works on lower air pressure, but I'm starting to lose hope at airbrushing detail work. #51 -

| there's even a small backstory to that tank bought it second hand for like 10€, the previous owner seemed to be some kid who used the TANK so test his color sceme (used to be red with white scribbles) but it looked like he primed the modell in red anti-rust coating. well long story short i made it my project of 2014, took me about 3 half days to fix it, do fix it (lost parts), convert it and paint it (hard to see in the pic but since the previous paint hurt the modell so much the armored parts got a interesting texture, was a blast to drybrush it in like 10 different colors) i'll post more of my stuff if you like (noit eversthing is 40K) but not until i got more natural light, photos in the dark suck | ||

| That's cool man, I just paint whatever I like from any game. There's a lot of crazy good painters out there and to be honest, they don't get paid a lot for the amount of time they put in this mini is crazy good but hes only gonna get $120 if someone "buys it now" www.ebay.com/itm/Sun-Tze-Infinity-Pro-Painted-/151568700281?rmvSB=true . I don't mean to put you off but there's only so much people are willing to pay for a mini no matter how good it is. But if you win a golden demon, well then maybe you can score big. Check out www.coolminiornot.com its the best minis website on the net. #17 -

There will always be people locally who have that special model they want souped up real nice for their games, and I don't need a lot of money to do it; it's as much for enjoyment as it is for anything. | ||

manollette (01/28/2015) [-] Only really heard of privateer press. Sticking with one game for now, might expand in the future. And yeah, I don't really do it for the pay; it's partly for fun, and partly for experience painting different stuff. If I can get really good, I can get to the point where I might actually get paid a decent sum for commissions. That's cool man, I just paint whatever I like from any game. turkeyslapper (01/28/2015) [-] Yeh the cloak looks a bit flat in that light. I don't plan to alter it since its already clear-coated. The matte clear coating also tends to make the colours a bit more muted. I'm not really a fan of dry brushing since it tends to look messy, here the scales are highlighted individually to create the look of shadows in the folds. Painted any non-GW minis? #13 -
manollette (01/28/2015) [-] And yeah, I imagine it would be difficult to paint over a coating. Inclined to disagree on the drybrush part though. You might be right for the scales, but for the most part I've found that it gives models a more natural look than highlighting. Heck, half of the model guns I do any more are just black with a boltgun metal drybrush, followed by a runefang highlight on the barrel & decals. #12 -
manollette (01/28/2015) [-] Not yet, no. Every now and then I'll throw up an ad on CL with an offer to paint other models for basically the cost of supplies. So far the only takers on that have been warhammer or 40k. Ah yeh, I never painted comissions cuz the pay is so low so I just painted for fun. manollette (01/28/2015) [-] Yeah, I certainly know how it is. Lost an auction for a sizeable tyranid force to a resale business lately Wish I would've stuck with it. Very nice though. Should try a brown wash followed by a light, green drybrush over the cloak. Really make the scales pop. If you're using citadel, warpstone would be a pretty good, constrasting green. Something closer to straken or elysian if you want the color to be more subtle. #11 -

FJ's given me plenty of laughs. Glad to give a few in return.
You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join manolette in the sun.
