i'm pretty sure the developmental stage determines whether the kid is gonna realize he/she is actually gay or be conflicted their whole life and suppressing their actual sexuality. i think that even if you force a child to watch gay porn 24/7, their basic orientation won't change because of that
User avatar #649 - manofbeardliness (02/04/2014) [-]
Probably not, but I believe it will influence them and increase the likelihood. I have pretty strong doubts that you can raise a kid to be gay, but how you raise your kid during their developmental stages does have a heavy impact.
#650 - hansjob (02/04/2014) [-]
that's almost exactly what i was saying. you can influence the child to see being gay as some kind of deviancy, you can't make a straight person out of a gay child by raising them "right" and vice versa
User avatar #659 - manofbeardliness (02/04/2014) [-]
You have good points, but personally I believe raising your kid in the middle will cause trouble later on in life. Also the whole "seeing gay as some kind of deviancy" has little to nothing to do with my point.

My entire point is raising your kid in a way in which he or she chooses their gender is ridiculous. Their brains are far from developed enough to understand the gravity of it. The best thing to do in my opinion is to raise your child as their own sex and shape them in a way that they support the other sex, sexual orientation, etc.

what decision? deciding to dress up as a princess for a birthday isn't going to change a child's sexual orientation. the only thing parents can influence is whether the kid is gonna accept non-heterosexuals as normal or not. i really don't think you can grow a gay person.
User avatar #241 - manofbeardliness (02/04/2014) [-]
Oh so it's a non-reproducible biological effect? I'm in no way implying that it's a choice, but saying it's hereditary is unlikely. There may be some kind of genetic mutation that causes people to be more likely to become gay. Ultimately it's more likely a psychological effect in that the child is exposed to something that causes a click eventually causing a sexual preference.

I don't think you quite understand how much influence the developmental stages of a child's life has.

Not personally in the army (soon). But I just have done my research, and was with Navy cadets, my family wants me to finish a degree before joining up with RCAC in a few years like my grandfather did. I hope this doesn't make you think less of me.

Nah, it's commendable to learn about what you're getting yourself into. I know enough about the military to know half the kids on this site don't know shit. That's only because I have family in the military, and I considered becoming an officer in the Coast Guard to pursue a career related to scuba diving. Also the benefits were enticing.

When I step back and try to fathom the sheer magnitude of potato ideas coming out of the people who push for removing gender roles, I am blown away. It's like they've never looked down at their own crotch and questioned what it is for.
User avatar #221 - scootalooisyourgod (02/04/2014) [-]
Gender neutral/androgyny/fluidity/whatever-the-hell is just as much of an identity as gay and trans* is. They're not -raising- him to be in the gray to be edgy or new or whatever. He said he wanted to go as Aurora so that what she let him do, and she lets him do whatever he likes.

Also it may not be his actual identity, like how everyone is saying he's not even grade school yet which I understand, just like drag queens/kings may or may not be of the trans community and it could just be a hobby or they feel good when they do it.

#165 - hansjob (02/03/2014) [-]
isn't that what they're doing? they let their child pick what he likes
User avatar #171 - manofbeardliness (02/03/2014) [-]
No not at all.... These people are indirectly influencing their children while they are still in their developmental stages. Kids need to develop into their own sex. Not be forced into the middle and to make a decision (yes decision) that they don't have the mental capacity to make.

A lot of these fuckers are the same ones who believe that all conspiracies are true because some fat ass neckbeard wasting away in his parents basement said so. It's the ignorant and naive that run this site.

Btw what branch are you in?
