Because a fetus isn't the same thing as a baby/child. If a dad doesn't want to take care of his own child, he's an asshole, both to the mother and the child. If a woman doesn't want to carry IT, it's her choice. It's her body.

Doesn't he have responsibility for impregnating her? If he did get this woman pregnant, its still his job to help raise it. He can't just have a fit cause she wont have an abortion and because of that he won't help raise it. Thats an ass hole thing to do.

I get what you're saying, and it's an ethical dilemma. But you also have to think of the mother's beliefs. If she think abortion is wrong (if she's religious, for instance) and poor, the father should take responsibility. Maybe he doesn't have to be a father, but he has to support the baby economically.

I think, however, that those money (I've forgotten what it's called) should ONLY be spent on the baby. I know this doesn't always happen in reality, though.
