They always favor the needs of the rich over those of the poor. In other words: the people that actually need help, don't get it.

Better than just handing out welfare checks- that's really not helping people out.

It's like giving obese people more money so they can pig out on food rather than spending it for them on compulsory gym membership, so they can get fitter and become a productive person in society again.

So what are they supposed to do without welfare? Starve? There just aren't enough jobs available.

Do what the majority of countries do and limit immigration, possibly based on a point system for needed skilled workers. If we stem the amount of immigrants coming in and taking jobs our own workers need, then our unemployment will drop, and the NHS should see a lessening strain.

People who argue 'that's not fair' - 1. life isn't fair, deal with it.
2. What are our own people supposed to do? Immigrate to the countries that the immigrants have come from leaving friends and family behind and do their jobs?

Immigration or no immigration, there will always be people who are unemployed for reasons they don't control, the system isn't perfect. They need welfare in order to survive. You can't solve a countries problems merely by limiting immigration. And imo, those immigrants are just as important as 'your own people'. Nationality doesn't mean anything to me.

Yes, there will always be a need for welfare, but cutting that need down should be our priority, not increasing the amount of welfare, especially when it makes it a more attractive option than working.

I disagree about Nationality, people should not be forced to abandon their old lives to move to work as other people who have chosen to do that have taken their jobs. Relocation should be a choice based on weighing up the factors and coming to a conclusion, not a necessity like it is in a conflict ridden 3rd world country. A nation should stick together to achieve it's goals to cause competitiveness between countries which produces progress - for an example just look at how much further we have got in technology due to investments made in the Cold War.
