Everybody knows, nobody understands.

There's so many reasons, I have trouble remembering them all, but one thing sticks out: Millennial Communists and the Oligarchy that's stringing them along...

They call themselves individualists, but they're keen on getting someone else to make the big decisions for them. It's going to hit that critical mass in the next decade or so, and I might get caught in the middle.

There's something like this happening on your side of the Atlantic, too. "Multiculturalism", much more devious...

Yep. Most people have no idea how to budget, or just can't give up the luxuries they couldn't afford in the first place.
#160 - anon (08/30/2015) [-]
I would like to build on this point to say that work experience for a graduate job is bullshit. You don't need work experience to get a graduate job. Just talk about the fact you're a good team player, and that you make a good leader... that's all the menial jobs give you anyway. Hell, my friend even made up a job and gave me as the referee, and guess what - it worked. He now works in the city as a technical consultant, and I recently got that job too.

You all need to realise that companies don't really care so much about grades and work experience as much as they do about ATTITUDE, TIME and MONEY. If you can prove to them you can save them time or money whilst having the right attitude (i.e., professionalism, an awareness about their business, a rough understanding of what your job might be and a willingness to learn) then they will hire you.

I got my awesome job through a hiring agency. I was also desperate for work and hit "check all", I'm still filtering calls for jobs offers 7 months later. So I don't know why people such have a hard time finding work. Sometimes, you gotta work while you find your career, and no one is willing to do that.

*low paying* jobs are easy to get. *Living wage jobs* are not.

Yeah, your only path to a living wage outside of college is working multiple jobs.

This is classism at it's finest, unless you're wealthy, they wring you dry...

Get two jobs.
Or work overtime.
Or figure out that 40 hours a week wasn't/isn't shit compared to the 50-70 hours WW2 gen and Baby Boomers worked/work.
#144 - Azz (08/30/2015) [-]
I actually wasn't speaking for myself, just from what I've noticed among friends. I worked all through uni, graduated with no debt, and have a job that pays my bills.

I'm going to take the red thumbs here

Fuck yo self respect. Money is money. I work in Canary Wharf as a Commodity Broker during the week. Weekends, I work for an events company. Today I just worked the Challenge Cup at Wembley. Im at Twickenham for he next two months of Saturdays and Wembley every other Sunday for The Rugby World Cup. I live at home with my parents still so minimal rent and expenses. I save every penny from the main job and all other expenses are paid through the weekend work. If I don't have the money to go out, so be it, that's life.

People you see on TV complaining that they can't live off of what they make you see have brand name food, and atleast some tech. YOU DON'T NEED ANY OF THAT. YOU JUST WANT IT. Technically, if there was a job that allowed it, you could work 13/14 hours, get home and go to sleep and get back out to work. Yes, you'd be annoyed at work, but you'd have cash. You don't NEED TV or anything like that, you could choose to go to the library and read for free, but TV is better. My plan is that in 2/3 years, have earned enough to get a Buy to Let mortgage and own a house to rent out... while still living at home. Then hopefully eventually have enough money by 2022 to buy another house, of which I'll rent out every room bar one for myself. I see people at work complain how little money they have... then proceed to go out to spend £5 on lunch and £6 on a pack of cigarettes. £5 can get you lunch for 1-2 weeks if you buy a loaf of bread, butter and a pack of ham and X. I havn't bought a new game for my PS4 since I bought it, am only using christmas presents. I reset FarCry and am going through that again, because I dont NEED to spend £40 on the witcher 3 just because I want it.

Suck it up, get a job, two if need be.
"No one's hiring", everyone's hiring, knock on every door, especially NOW with all the uni students heading back

"But I need the experience to get a job, I need a job to get experience". Did you not do summer jobs as a kid? work experience? work at all for your parent's or family. Chuck every little job you did on there. Helping your uncle clean out his workshop can be a reference which you can both emphasise what you did there and for how long you did, especially if you don't share a surname. Get a job that pays nothing. Ask for work experience. If it's for a week, say 27th-2nd, date your job history on your CV by months not specific dates, they'll assume its for atleast 5/6 weeks, not days. Use that to get your next job.

TlR; people make a fuss over having a new phone, not living with the parents etc. These are things you don't NEED. Low paying job is fine, gives you the essentials and the experience

The argument that it is already set up as a demotional value to the stunt is laughable at best. Movies are set up months and sometimes years before hand, yet we find them so entertaining that its one of the biggest industries in the United States.

Sports games are set up before hand to maximize the safety of its players through careful study of PPE (personal protective equipment) and the body, though we still enjoy the games.

Even video games are all set down in stone for you, with limitations to what one can do, yet again, we still spend billions paying for them, just to enjoy a few hours (or im my case, 1000 on Skyrim alone), because we find them fun.

Moral of the Story: Just because it is pre-planned and set up before hand, doesnt make it any less spectacular.

Added Note: Ever tried playing golf or baseball without practice? Great way to look like a jackass. Practice is the backbone of anything worth doing.

No, if you watch the video link, she has to adjust each one very carefully.

If she is off even by an inch, the bolt could glance off and ricochet into the audience.

If it missed completely, thats a bolt flying at an average of 345 feet per second directly off stage into the waiting acts.

Not only that, but even the best of marksmen can miss a shot.
FURTHERMORE, all of the target crossbows are on swivels, so they can be easily adjusted. If one of those swivels comes loose and the shock from the bolt hitting the target jerks it out of alignment, it could also spell disaster.

Yes, the execution takes little talent, but the balls it takes to even attempt this, let alone the planning, execution, and preparation to set this up just right to be sure it always hits the mark, is what makes it a truly impressive spectacle of fortitude and gumption.

but courage is relative. I'm fine with all animals and insects, don't care when I would be doing jumps on my bike and getting battered ...I know how cool I sound but am scared of heights, even when strapped and secured.

If she's been brought up with crossbows since birth, training to do the stunt for 10 years and has performed it many times, for her, it wouldn't take much courage, yet she could be scared of the tiniest of spiders instead and her holding one wouldn't be viewed as courageous to many

rape is serious whether it be a male or female victim..."prison rape jokes" are accepted within our society due to long standing social views of male rape. Ideally in an equal world the joke is wrong. however there does exist a recurrent theme of hypocracy on fj when femenist try to combat societal views on women, i.e they are discarded as simply whining. I use tumblr, and have dated, and met femenists in different environments and although i am not a femenist (im kind of a dick) i have not personally met one, or observed a large presence of tumblr users who are against equality (femenist i am currently banging stated that as a femenist she believes in equality, not just women rights when i asked).

If anything, the assumption that the majority of fj users make about all femenists or tumblr users as being men-hating nazis, fake stats making, crazies is blown out of proportion. i would like to remind you that you will hardly find a "pro-femenist" post on funnyjunk, because the fj uploader purposefully "picks and chooses" what type of femenist content to extract from tumblr. Personally, i am far from a femenist...but the femenist/tumblr bashing on fj is far more exagerated than the femenist/tumblr claims or statements that are called out as fake/exagerated.

Im simply defending the complaint over the prison rape joke. Any type of joke is fine by me, on stage, in a film, but its a valid complaint, just like many of the problems tumblr has too, its just the way they go about it and blow it out of proportion rather than our circlejerkinf of merely leaving a comment and moving on
