but it was printed
so there's a single pixel for every gradient
if we increased the pixel density from, let's say 300 dpi to 600 dpi, you suddenly need way more colors.

yup, katanas aren't ment to clash with other katanas, or even metal. They're extremely good at cutting flesh, but that doesn't work that well when people wear armor.

That's the same with every sword, really, but european swords just can't get through armor that well. At least they don't break.

Another reason katanas suck in duel: you can chip european swords and they keep their strenght, but if you chip the long edge of a katana, any point after that will have lost the strenght and will break next hit.

a european sword typicly hasa pommel, used to strike an oppenent heavely armoured

Well you can halfsword a European Sword. This is done by holding the Sword by its edge and then using the guard as a hammer. So European swords are actually pretty decent at getting through armor.

Of course it can't be compared to something like a mace or a warhammer but it's still pretty effective.

A katana can't do that and if a late medieval knight in full plate armor came across a samurai he would absolutely destroy him.

Check Skallagrim or scholagladiatoria for halfswording pretty interesting acutally.

....you could halfsword/murder-stroke (according to >>#78) a katana too?
you could even murder-stroke a butter knife...
how does a katana hinder you from grabbing its blade?
you are bashing someone with the hilt...thats it, there is no fancy shit to halfswording

yes katanas are shit, i know. but i dont get your comment...how does the fact that its a katana even matter?

Halfsword could work, probably, I'm not sure how effective it would be with a curved blade.
murder-stroke less likely.
There's barely a guard and no pommel at all so it'd be like hitting them with a stick.

There's also the thing everyone keeps forgetting.

Katana weren't utilised on large scale for warfare, they were made for ceremonial duels.

Samurai were primarily horse archers, secondly relying on a spear and only using their sword if they could no longer use either of the other weapons.

You mean a murder-stroke.
Halfswording has one hand on the blade and the other still on the sword grip, mostly used to poke through holes in armor more precisely so theoretically both moves accomplish the same thing.
