I am simply stating facts and numbers. The Salem Witch Trials body count totals 24. If you would like to include persecution of witchcraft in the same area, the total rises to 36. I haven't said anything to offend or that was intended to offend anybody. You call me idiotic and aggressive, yet I have made no personal attacks on you or Atheism. I in no way took out of context what you said and I quote, "The Atheist murders had political backing and reasoning.", which stands to reason without further explanation that you thought this was ok. I am for the bettering of public intelligence and against the repression of knowledge of any kind.

The Salam Witch trials was a short action compared to say, the crusades (which killed around 50,000 children, the inquisition where thousands where killed for herisy or witchcraft. The Salam Witch trials were in america. Most paganism came from europe and when the romans attacked, carrying with it christianity, they slaughtered pagans by waiting at their place of worship and cutting them down. Between 315 and 6th century thousands of pagan believers were slain. Pagan services became punishable by death in 356. In 6th century pagans were declared void of all rights. Emperor Karl (Charlemagne) in 782 had 4500 Saxons, unwilling to convert to Christianity, beheaded. but like you said only 24 pagans died in the Salem witch trials. Let's jsut forget about everything else.
And as per your last comment, please read about paganism before commenting on how many died. And just so you know Pagansim was the blanket term given to any european religion that wasn't held under it's own banner e.g. witchcraft, vampirsm, demonsim, satansim etc
Why exactly are we arguing? We both kind of agree that mass genocide is probably the worst thing that can and has ever happened.

I wasn't aware that we were arguing. But if that is indeed what we are doing, attribute it to the fact that I am an angry black man. Religious or not everyone is tired of death and war in the name of a god. However, blaming the religion itself is like me walking up to you and punching you in the face and yelling "That was for Obama!". Obama would have nothing to do with the act itself and would in fact probably not condone such action. I am just tired of the general ignorance of out world. And by the way, paganism is indeed considered every religion that is not well known, but the victims of The Crusades were mainly Muslim and Jewish. Both were well known and accepted religions at the time and therefore not pagan. Again morals of today are different from the times of your references and yet modern atrocities still happen. None of which are caused by Christianity. Everyone is right in their own eyes. You lost all credibility in my eyes when you called me an aggressive idiot.

But Christianity pretty much wiped out an entire religion. And btw it was the religion because they read it from the bible. They acted as hands of the religion. You are thinking of the Catholic church. The Catholic's original stance was to oppose Christianity as well. They are not one and the same just as Judaism and Muslim are not. Christianity is still openly oppressed and persecuted in 24 countries. People are still dying simply because of their choice in religion. All religions have had their time in the dark.

So Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Lenin, and Mao Zedong were all within their rights? That's why they have been named some of the worst tyrants in the history of the world? Hitler's actions were politically based as well. The references you use are all from early history such as the Crusades or the Spanish Inquisition. The examples I have just given you are from the past 75 years. No wars have been fought in the name of Christianity since the Thirty Years war in the 17th century.
User avatar #28 - mads (04/21/2013) [-]
you have a problem with misunderstanding. They used polotics to attack religion. I am not supporting what Stalin, Lenin or Zedong did. You are an idiot for even trying to say that.
When the christians pretty much wiped out hundreds of religions what was there reasoning? oh yeah a book.
and even now they don't allow religions older than them to be considered religions. For example it was only recently that Druidism was considered a religion. Vampirism is not considered a religion. Wiccan isn't considered a religion. And why is that? Christians don't like them because they called them evil. It doesn't matter how recent these travesties are, they still happened and we lost hundreds of years of religious development because christians disagreed. Look at how many people died during the puritan Witch trials. How many innocent young girls where brutally murdered because they where pagan

Stalinist purges included religious purging. Mao Zedong's rule of China consisted of religious persecution. In fact, all Maoist and Marxist-Leninist political views were anti-religion. Body counts from these movements are believed to number close to 250 million. Both are proclaimed atheist and believe that everyone who did not accept their beliefs was against them.

3-type in 'www.google.com'

5-type in 'liberal feminism'
6-when you feel you understand what this is (could be a few hours) repeat step 2, 3 and 4
7-type in 'radical feminism'
8-use common sense and your newly gained knowledge to compare these two ideologies.
9-go fuck yourslef with a rake

not really. I still remember when we had this strong "Fuck 9gag, fuck 4chan, fuck tumblr. We make OC!"

After the "Share to facebook"-button everything went straight to shit

Hi, just want to say, I didn't mean to sound aggressive on your post about Doctor Who.

I just wanted to make it clear that MLP has done the same thing, as far as value's are concerned.

Doctor Who is an amazing show, and if you prefer it, I won't argue against that.
And if you prefer it to MLP, or just straight up don't like MLP, again, that's fine, your opinion.

I just wanted get my opinion out, too.
Most of us there weren't really being aggressive, we just wanted to get our point across.

Sorry if it looked different.
And also, thanks for not really being a hater.
You were pretty calm, with the gay community on your page.
