many religious dietary restrictions were in place because of health reasons.
for halal food:
no pork because pork not thoroughly cooked could give parasites. There's a reason muslims call pork unclean. what else would you call an animal that rolls around in mud and shit?

for kosher food::
same thing for pork
shellfish: well, they're bottom feeders. and they are known to be affected by red tide.

Not to be "that person" but its mentioned 7 times and 70 hadiths mention it. Here's one example:

"Oh Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw over them their jilbaabs (cloaks). That in the least so that they be recognised and not be molested." (Surah Ahzaab)

Not to mention that many civilizations had worn a hijab-like clothing before. The Assyrians for example to have your hair shown was a shame and hinted towards a loose woman.

well you're right but theres a few reasons I think what I said still holds ground
1) you're quoting a translation - nuff said with that one
2) you're right that it's in there. but contextually this makes complete sense. Especially during the time where many muslims (like in any starting-up religion) where being prosecuted by others and men were being beaten and women were raped and all that jazz, it kind of makes sense to say that women should cover up a bunch in what was culturally the normal modest clothing at the time.
What I'm trying to say is that we are both right and this is why there's so much debate about this stuff. It never says all women must cover up, but the profit was told to tell women to cover up at the time according to the Quraan. look at all this room for interpretation. shit be kray

I'd just like to comfort you that women are not going to want to go for the vast majority of funnyjunk who completely deny that any inequality still exists in order to strive through their shitty one-sided battle with feminism.
It's guys like you who are a fucking breath of fresh air on this website.

First, be polite. Second, ad hominem is never a good way to go if you want people to take you seriously. Statistics do not lie, but people can manipulate them to get certain results, conveniently leaving out vital data without technically compromising the validity of their conclusion. I agree that in some instances women getting paid less than men is an issue, but in reality it's not as big a problem as a lot of people try to make it. It is not some huge conspiracy against women or nationwide misogyny, it's certain detestable men in certain companies and they should be punished. HOWEVER you cannot cite outliers as counterexamples and you cannot make generalizations without first researching the data you are using to support your argument. Women are not the only people who can make judgements about data regarding women, that is one of the many disgusting things the current wave of feminism seems to hold true.

1) I don't give a shit if you take me seriously. Your opinion won't change no matter what I say to you anyways. It's the internet.
2) You don't have to be a woman to make a comment about woman's rights in the same way that you don't have to be black to say "nigger". Go for it. It isn't my problem. If you can empathize with women at the level where you can understand the shit they have to put up with, then you're clearly a lot better than me
3) woman earn less on average because they have lower paying jobs and higher unemployment AND they get less for the same amount of work. It doesn't matter WHY it is $0.77 to the dollar. It matters that it exists, even though women are equally as capable as men. It's actually shameful as a nation to have to deal with that in 2014
4) I'm not basing anything off of outliers. I was just saying what I observed. People are sexist though. There is no getting around it. You'd be astonished by the amount of resistance Hilary Clinton gets simply because she is a woman. Especially in the more socially conservative parts of the country. Like literally tens of thousand of people believing absolutely bullshit facts that have nothing to do with her political views or anything. (not to mention the media coverage on her grand daughter as of late being total bullshit that never happened with any male candidate to the degree that it is happening for her)
5) sexism isn't bullshit. I don't need to prove to you that it exists and no matter how much reasoning I give you or evidence I present, it won't change a thing
6) It's almost 4:30 in the morning and I'm ranting on the internet. I'm gonna go sleep. I'm sorry for the angry ranting. I'm just tired and I've been studying hard for an exam on friday. I don't even give a shit enough to reread this comment because it's too long and I realized I dont' give a shit. goodnight. have fun. play hard. live long and may the force be ever in your favor. bye
