You children can downvote me all you want.
I wish I was there once you leave school and college and realize that the way things worked there, your habits of skirting along just because you are smart, is now fucking you so badly.

I never did homework 6-12th grade and I still graduated, as long as you show up, pay attention, do good on tests, and do the occasional project for each class you really don't need homework
User avatar
#54 - angelusprimus (09/06/2015) [-]
Read the thread.
yes, you can graduate. You can skirt away all you want in school and college.
Problem is you develop a "skirt along" mentality and then you are fucked once you go and get a job.

>Implying homework is the difference between a high achiever and a minimum wage mcdonalds worker

Dux of my final year legit never did homework ever, he just had a good memory and mind for academia.

Shows willingness to do ones obligations, persistence and willingness to deal with tedious tasks.
If I knew someone didn't do homework I'd never give them a job. People who skirt their obligations and refuse to deal with tedious parts of the assignment tend to make crappy workers.

And you sound like a kid who's living off his parents and thinks that how things work in school will work all their lives.

Never did my homework. Was a lazy as fuck student. Did absolutely fantastic on tests and assignments at school. Pretty sure I've never done homework even once in highschool. Now I'm going to collage. Have yet to work in a fast food place. or any food place for that matter . If you think not doing homework means you will end up in a shit job, than you're more retarded than people who haven't been to school at all.

You are exactly like the guys we keep laying off.
The ones that think they can get by on intelligence.
Talk to me after college. Talk to me when you watch bunch of people who have half your brains, half your talent, keep getting promoted over you because they do the work always, on time and well enough. While your boss never knows how you will do.
Because that's how lazy workers are.
User avatar

Homework is just preparation and cementing knowledge. if someone can not only succeed and yet surpass others without homework, how is that bad?

You know who needs to be willing to do tedious tasks? burger engineers
User avatar
#28 - angelusprimus (09/06/2015) [-]
No, homework is not JUST preparation and cementing knowledge. Its also a training for learning to deal with tasks where no one is sitting on your shoulder and observing.
Which is how vast majority of jobs work. You are given a task and then left alone to do it. Because your boss is your boss, not your kindergarden minder.
and then those that didn't learn to persistently deal with their obligations and tasks that are not necessarily interesting start to falter. Not immidiately but once novelty of the new job stops.
I'm in software, and we have to let go a few people like that every year. They are really smart, really good but have no consistency and no persistence.

And if you think your job isn't going to be at least 50% tedious, you are either aiming to be a human cannonball or deluding yourself.

Don't get pissy at people for not doing homework and not having a shit job. Just because you did your homework and still landed a mind numbing job that you hate, doesn't mean everyone will. You'd be amazed at how little people put effort into homework or do it at all, and still land fantastic jobs. You want to know why? Because people would rather work with a happy idiot over a bitter genius.

assuming makes an ass out of you.
I love my job. Its a great job. I also make decent living and have plenty of time for my hobbies.
But any job, EVER, has tedious parts. I sure as fuck don't like going through the code line by line trying to figure out what's gone wrong. But sometimes I have to.
Just like I have to deal with the customers and go to meetings.
But here's the thing. I do it all. Always. While lazy people who think they can get by on intelligence now work under me. Or don't work at all once boss gets sick of crappy results half the time.
You can get by on that shit in college.
Talk to me once you have a job for a couple of years.
User avatar
#97 - nudybooty (09/06/2015) [-]
So did you want me to talk to you now, or are you busy? Because I can come back later if it would be better. Assuming I haven't had a job for a few years? Assuming makes an ass out of you.

Even then, we're talking more about passion and motivation. You don't learn how to be passionate about something from homework, and those who are outstanding in their fields are the ones who are passionate about what they do, not the ones who know how to sit down and 'do what they're supposed to do'.
User avatar
#31 - angelusprimus (09/06/2015) [-]
You are partially right there.
But here's the thing. No matter how passionate you are, your job is going to get less interesting while you do it.
Those who are outstanding in their field CONSISTENTLY do great work. When they are feeling great, when they are hyped AND when they are bored out of their minds.
Learning to be consistent is a process and homework is extremely important part of it.
If you think a person can go on being passionately inspired about work for years you don't really understand human nature.
Truly outstanding people are passionate, but also hard workers. They are the ones who go "Fuck it, I really don't wanna, but it has to be done, so fuck it, lets do it." and then still give all they've got.
People who take shortcuts, those that don't wanna do work they don't see as important enough (like homework), those that think they can get by on smarts alone. they are not those guys, they get left behind.

I would just like to add, one of my friends who you'd never see in class, pretty sure she never did any homework in her life, when she was in class she'd sleep, would drop almost every class after 2 weeks or so, slept through tests quite a bit, finished highschool at 19 .....got in the 80's as her finishing grade and is now studying to be a paramedic annnnnd has above average grades in her class.

Yeahhhhh.....in reality, employers don't even pretend to give a fuck about what you did in school as long as you got it done unless you did something illegal, let alone if you did your fucking homework or not.

Training, classes, college, grades. Children.
Again, talk to me once you have a job for a couple of years. Or her.
User avatar
#96 - nudybooty (09/06/2015) [-]
Did you not read my god damn message? Do you know what a paramedic is? You can't just magically become a paramedic because you felt like it one day. You need references, you need several years of school, you need to be an EMT first and an EMR. You need loads volunteer hours if you want a chance of being hired as any of those. Did you think they just hire anyone to literally have peoples lives in their hands? I have never met anyone more retarded than you.
User avatar
#98 - angelusprimus (09/06/2015) [-]
You are a liar.
"your friend" doesn't exist. Also, you probably meant to say finished college, because finishing highschool at 19 means she was held back a year.
Now you are pretending you have been working for years. With your "highschool friend" story.
Can you be MORE transparent? You are a kid who got offended at hearing "Not doing homework is bad". At most you are 16 years old.

Just because 2 people have been working for several years, it doesn't mean they work together. The world doesn't just offer 1 job, it has millions.
User avatar
#99 - nudybooty (09/06/2015) [-]
You are an illiterate idiot.
I never once said I've been working with her, you would know that if you could read. It's literally impossible to finish collage, let alone even enrol in the class, at 19 for paramedics, you can finish EMR at 19, not paramedics. She wasn't held back, she took an extra year to finish because of how many classes she dropped, you would know that if you could read. I have never worked any job with her, just attended a year of high school with her, you would know that if you could read. I'm not offended, I just think you're completely retarded and have absolutely no understand how the world works.

If i wanted to make up a story I would of said some crazy shit like a rocket scientist.

#102 - angelusprimus (09/06/2015) [-]
Really? Its impossible to finish collage at 19?
I finished my first collage at 5. Must be a genius.
I'm still saying, and would be willing to bet a large sum of money that you are a teenager still in school.
Done wasting time on you. Bye.

Oh my god.

Congratulations! You had several people fall for it, and no one thought any different. You are this sites best troll. Holy fuck that was amazing. Honestly, everyone thought you were just "special" but this whole time you were just fucking with everyone. I'm amazed, not 1 person even considered you as a troll. This site is filled with such obvious ones who don't even try, but you are on a whole different level. You put effort into it.

While I think that no combination of words will ever change your mind since you seem so certain of your theories, I did manage to pass an honours degree which included writing a full dissertation and have partaken in multiple contracts and jobs since then.

While I can respect that you're trying to find a correlation, I can't see one here
