The "HARD" means non-volatile memory, meaning it cannot be erased due to a power failure, data written to the drive stays there unless erased by the user or a failure occurs.
An SSD or Flash Drive is the same thing as a mechanical HD, the only difference is the way the data is copied and stored to the physical media. SSD's tend to fail far less often than mechanical Hard Drives due to their lack of moving parts, but that doesn't declassify them as a Hard drive.
You sir are a fucking idiot, stop talking out of your ass.

Then what the fuck do you think you're storing you data on?
Apple, like most smart-phone manufacturers, use flash-memory to store data. The only difference between this flash memory and your average desktop SSD's is the size. It is literally the same exact technology. Ever used a thumb-drive? Congrats, that's basically a mini SSD.

I use my SSD as a boot drive, and my 2tb HDD for mass storage. I would say it's more like SSDs are large USB drives, after all, that's the architecture it's based on.
And yes, thanks for arguing my point that iPhones and other smartphones DON'T USE HDDs

I supported your argument...how? What? If flash memory is basically a mini SSD, and SSD's are considered Hard Drives...

OTHER your; "storing you data on"
Jesus fucking christ all ANYONE is saying in this thread is that iPhones don't use HDDs. And no, SSDs are NOT (by definition) hard drives, HARD DRIVES (HDDs) are hard drives.
I just posted a question about it. Debate it with this guy www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1815604/ssds-hard-drives.html#11605915
And yes, they both serve the same purpose, but so do phones, and are they all the same?

So you weren't even correcting a grammatical mistake, but a typing error? Wow.
I'm not going by definition, I'm going by classification and the usage in the devices they are located and performing in. An SSD and HDD will preform the same tasks in the same place, they just do it using different internal means.
Hard Drive is a very broad term, if they had said "hard disk" I wouldn't be having this conversation, as that term specifically refers to the form of mechanical hard drive with a magnetic spinning mechanism. A drive is a drive, it drives the operating system and allows the electronic device to preform its intended task.
Yes, by classification, all phones are phones. You can call somebody with a 1940 rotary the same as you can with an iPhone 5s.
I'm done, bye.

As I have said, as others have said, we USED to enjoy this site, but now admin wants to make it terrible.
All I want to do is come and see funny, and vote the way I see fit
Here is an example: Google allowed you to have an email account, you can reply all you want, but you can have no attachments whatsoever
