 A long time ago, way before this indie early access treachery was even made known of, the devs for StarForge released a video that hyped me up like no other and I gave them $15. I played the Alpha for a bit, got bored and moved on, tried again next year, got confused by all the random shit they threw in without proper explanation or tutorial, then left. Tried one last time almost another year later and it seems unchanged. Turns out they were one of these treacherous indie "devs". That was the last indie early access I bought that wasn't in beta with a release date for an actually soon time. #205 -
lordpancake (01/04/2016) [-] Yeah don't get me wrong there's a -lot- of bad ones out there (I'm fuckin' looking at you, Nether, I had such high hopes) but there's quite a few legit ones too. It's just important when you're buying an EA to follow it for awhile and see where its going and how it's being updated before you actually buy it. I never did get into Starforge though, a friend impulse bought it and told me to stay away. I kept my eye on it and wasn't impressed :/.  Starbound's legit, though. I subscribe to the "1+ hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent policy" and I got over a hundred hours out of Starbound, so by my standards it's pretty good. This was ages ago, too, I'm sure I'll get plenty more hours when I go back to check out the new stuff they've added #204 -

Starbounds pretty good now, but I'm holding off getting back into it because they're two updates away from finally releasing it and it's come such an incredibly long way. Next update will be the questing system, after that is polish, then it's shipping. I've already got about 70-80 hours into from back when they were doing wipes, I'll easily get the same amount again when it's done. | ||

I pay full rent, utilities, both car and health insurance, and for my own food as well (as well as managing debts from a.. well, failed college experience and medical debt because I freaked out over a lump on my collar bone).
