Still not sure what everyone hates on Sarah Palin for. She may not have been the brightest bulb in the box (and even there I think he so called 'stupidity' was more media hype than truth), but at least she actually cared about America and held American values.
#35 - anonymous (10/21/2013) [-]
It takes more than caring and values to run a country. She would have been utterly incompetent as a leader.
#34 - loonquawl (10/21/2013) [-]
My main issue with her during that election is she seemed incapable of compromising with others viewpoints and values, I don't think we would have been any better off with her then we are now. Plus, since I'm a California girl, her American values tended to clash with ours.

If Romney had won then that would say Romney.
Or any other candidate that won.

i work 65 hours a week faggot, I am not ghetto, I paid my own way through college, etc. The republicans do not have any solutions for the middle and lower classes, only for the very rich and for large corporations. I am not on welfare, or food stamps, or any other form of government assistance, and obamacare isnt a program you file for. Describing it as such reveals your ignorance in the matter. Democrats are far from perfect, but the republican solutions have had a long track record of being bad for the average citizen.
"Obamacare" or the Affordable Care Act (as it is actually called) provides an easy way to shop for insurance through private companies, reduces the cost of insurance, and prevents them from denying you for pre-existing conditions. It limits the power of the insurance companies and generally makes insurance more affordable and easy to get. There is very little objectionable in the law, save for how it doesnt go far enough to create an efficient single payer system, which is what we really need.

That affordable care thing you just spewed was crap actually. I wasn't involved in any of this till it fucked with me. I also bust my ass at work and had a limited health insurance plan of my own through the job. I paid enough money because I am not sick and or dying or needing to go to the doctor more than twice a year, if that. So, how come at the end of the year, I lose my health insurance? How come if we keep our affordable health plan, that I get a fucking letter stating that because of the "Affordable Care Act" I have to pay more for something I already fucking had? How come my Insurance wasn't fucking good enough?
#98 - deathbyrevenge (10/14/2013) [-]
I had a limited liability that was offered through the company and they are still looking for new plans but the actual company sent me a letter saying that "due to the affordable care act, all limited plans will be terminated at the end of the year." That keeping your doctor and plan thing was a lie.
#103 - sanguinesolitude (10/14/2013) [-]
Well that was the decision of your company, who obviously feel this is a good excuse to stop providing your with insurance.
I have seen no evidence of plan premiums increasing, it seems more likely the company decided to pay the fine instead of continue providing you with insurance. Again I don't have all the information, but this seems more a dick move on your employers part than anything to do with the ACA. I suppose it is possible that the insurance company eliminated some plans, but I dont see why they would do that. Far more likely is the company you work for either A. decided a fine was cheaper than paying your insurance or B. would be forced to pay for a more comprehensive health plan and so chose to pay the fine instead of doing the right thing for their employees. I doubt the insurance company just decided they didnt want to make money from the limited liability plans they had been selling, but again I just dont know.
How much was your monthly premium through your company? Limited liability (often called catastrophic injury plans) are generally fairly inexpensive.
#291 - deathbyrevenge (10/15/2013) [-]
It was roughly 60 a month. The company didn't stop it because the Manager is already looking for a new plan for the company and was fighting it. It was very cheap for what I needed as a 23 year old single male. I just got the paper and it is saying that you cannot have annual dollar limits. So, to cut it short, I have to pay more, to get more, when I need less.
#302 - sanguinesolitude (10/16/2013) [-]
check your states obamacare site, i bet you would be surprised how little extra it costs for a real insurance plan, that does include things like dental and doctor visits. Like i said catastrophic (limited liability) plans for me were coming up around 65-70 dollars from a variety of companies.
I am just not sure what to think about that. On the one hand it does completely suck to have lost your insurance, on the otherhand I have trouble seeing how the ACA cause this.

Lol, so youre a bleeding heart liberal?
I get paid 12.50 for my good job i worked hard for, I was raised by a republican family that knew if what was comming. They plan for the future. Republicans dont want thier money taken from them by some nigger who wants to create escuses and wants to just buy boose and drugs and spawn 30 little ass holes who will repeat every action thier abandoned father will do.

Uh, no. No one who is intellectually honest believes we had "free markets" or "deregulation" before the financial crisis. The government hasn't been sitting on its hands for the past 100 years--its been fiddling with the economy and passing "regulations" left and right.
The recent financial crisis was caused by a number of things, but one thing that stands out is the housing bubble. The government was pumping money into the housing market, which made it look like it was better off than it actually was. Prices were being increased artificially, and private investors got sucked in believing they were making a good investment. But this artificial growth was unsustainable--reality eventually caught up and the housing bubble collapsed, dragging down every bank, investor, and homeowner with it. And considering a house is the biggest investment most people make, the crash had a domino effect which affected the entire economy.
#38 - anonymous (10/12/2013) [-]
Talk about intellectually honest, twisting facts to fit with your ideology. Blame lies on both sides, obviously, but the simple fact remains; with tighter regulations pertaining to the housing market the backlash would be significantly lessened. Without regulations the businesses are the government, a free-market is a myth and wouldn't work in real life.
#44 - anonymous (10/12/2013) [-]
You're going to call him intellectually dishonest but you're going to claim it's a "simple fact" that tighter regulations would have lessened the blow to the housing market? Then you go on to claim that the free market is a myth?
How hypocritical and ignorant are you?
Are you aware the government required banks to give out loans that they knew people could not pay back? That literally caused the housing bubble, theres no other way around it and no amount of double talk will change that FACT (facts are things that are undisputed, not your opinion).
And the free market works everywhere, even in socialist countries you constantly see the effects of supply and demand and other basic economic principles that make up the free market. To say it's a myth is profoundly ignorant of not just economics, but history in general.
#28 - theism (10/12/2013) [-]
Pretty sure the housing crisis was caused by the banks letting people take out mortgages they couldn't pay, bundling and selling those mortgages, and then repossessing people's homes when they couldn't pay their debts. This led to the value of houses plummeting, completely fucking the whole system.
#12 - natedizzie (10/11/2013) [-]
Well yes but you have to remember it was the government that told the banks to give the unregulated loans to people they knew couldn't afford them.
Also Inside trading in congress is swept under the rug because the "investigators" also have their hand in the cookie jar
