*Sighs* this anime is a satire criticizing the strict and depressing nature of modern japan and censorship laws which are oppressing the Japanese people and lowering the birth rate. Few Westerners will realize this because to them it's just a show about fan service. And I really hate that.

Have you ever read the book Atlas Shrugged? I think the biggest problem workaholic cultures like that of Japan is the pressure to work yourself to death, not for yourself but for your family or clan or country or whatever. I personally would love to find a woman who strove to succeed and work extremely hard, she would push me to work harder and I would push her, but the crucial part to finding happiness in that situatiom would be that I worked hard for myself and no one else, and that I worked to fulfill my own desires and had a job that I loved.

Certainly, but don't get me wrong, I do admire Japan for it's collective moral. They are capable of incredible things, and it's much less selfish than Western society for example.

Look at this, this is how long it took Japanese workers to repair roads after a major earthquake. In America, I've seen the simplest of fucking repairs a month just to get done. This is beautiful. When that flood happened and that Nuclear reactor fucked up and radiation was leaking old retired nuclear power plant workers volunteered to go in and help stop the crises because "they were old and it was better than putting their children at risk". THAT is beautiful. The Japanese are proud yes, smug and zealot even, but deep down they have good hearts and strong wills and that is always to be admired. Because you just don't see that kinda stuff very often.

I haven't read that book, but on your subject of a good waifu, you know, to me life is not about work. I work to live, I sure as hell don't live to work. Because no matter how successful you became what the fuck is the point if you don't enjoy and live life?

As someone who has come from a family of a LOT of rich people i can tell you there is no fucking point. You live and work hard and earn lots. That is totally fine. Your'e successful. Good show. Now...

If you are LUCKY your children wont squander all that effort and hard work out there. If youre EVEN LUCKIER the world wont take it from them if they do indeed resist. But ONE of your descendants will fuck up. Multiple parts of my family used to be rich. One even came from landed gentry. 80% are now all broke Some even benefit scroungers and ruined. Nice work ancestors. 3 generations later and all that hard work, blood and sweat is worth abso - fucking- lutely nothing.

TL;DR Dont waste your life building for the next gen. Make that an eventual goal, not the central pillar of your life. If its wasted, your life was wasted.

Ah well, see that's the thing. I would say Japan's greatest strength is just that, the ability to not give a fuck about anything else and put your entire life in your job and get it done, fast and right. American culture today is all about being lazy and getting by, the bare minimum and least possible effort. And I would say if the Japanese people were more selfish, if they worked as hard as their did for their own lives, they would be a happier people, but I guess that doesn't really make sense to most people. And yeah your definitely right, but I recommend reading the book so you can know what I mean by living for my work, and how that is working for my life. Cheers man, keep doing you.

Actually it does, since like a lot of Asian countries Japan has the "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down" mentality, not so much as say china but still, and blurring nudity is censorship. But the whole "department of morality enforcement" thing in that anime is all too real. think about it. You've seen anime, and you've seen (literally word for word), "respect adults" "oh no I can't drink I'm underage" "all drugs are evil no exceptions" and so on and so forth. The Japanese are at odds in the entertainment industry. There is the free side that just wants to practice true expression, and the government sinking their claws in and trying to control everybody.

Log Horizon is a good example. It was funded by the government and stripped of all fan service, and anything to do with sexuality and violence. The original log horizon talked about how some imprisoned players were used as sex slaves and how some places became despots. The anime adaption (while still good) was quite watered down in comparison.

Psycho Pass is one example of their probable dystopian future.
And that's what Psycho Pass anime was about. "hey Japan, this is the future you are choosing"
And that was a world where the government literally controlled people's emotions and acted as the thought police.

Better than fucking Hot Wheels Battle force 5 or that Slugterra bullshit my nephew loves to watch.
Angela Annaconda may of had a voice like a cheese grater with smokers cough but the show had personality.
