Babbage made the first mechanical computer.

Konrad Zuse created the first program-controlled, electromechanical, digital computer as well as the first high-level programming language, called "Plankalkul."

So "computers" like you have at home were invented by Zuse.

But devices capable of making calculations via gears and levers and so on were created by Babbage.

But if we attribute the modern computer to Babbage, we might as well say the Chinese invented the computer with the abacus.

Babbages computer was more akin to a time clock you punch at work....

Thumbs for learning cordially and respectfully!
