It says more then you know, have you ever even thought of what america could of did to Japan if we did an full on amphibious invasion on mainland Japan the estiments would have been about 1 million american troops lost, and now think of this from an american point of view, would you rather kill JUST Japanese troops and save over 1 million lives? or would you invade japan and have a massive loss of life. Or how about this, we could of bombed Tokyo but we didnt. Why?. Because we would rather make our point without absolutly destroying there country's gov. Or consider this, at that time we had more man power and a better equiped mass, so even tho we would have lost 1 million troops, japan would have lost twice that + more. Or consider this, we could have taken anything we wanted after WW2. We had nukes, no 1 else did. We even gave japan a warning to surrender or we will drop a massive weapon on there home land. People who dis america take us for granted, with out us this would would be whole new place i can tell yea that much

Japan was training every able-bodied civilian to fight to the death against us. To defeat them without them surrendering would have destroyed their entire population minus the very few who surrendered and those who couldn't fight us because they were too old or too young.

And that's before you even start to look at allied casualties.

we only planned on using 2 nukes in the first place. I'm sure Russian involvement was something we wanted to avoid, but the war in the pacific wasn't planned on ending until 1950 if we were to use infantry to occupy the whole (or most) of Japan.
