My best friend is the most devout Mormon girl you could ever meet :^) Plus, while I can give my reasoning to not believe, if the evidence does not convince, that is no fault of the religious. You do not choose what you believe. #685 -

That could mean for every person who doesn't kill themselves because religion, there is someone who does because they believe they'll last through it, and again, I really don't know if I buy that ANYBODY needs religion until after they've grown dependent on it. Like drugs Once you have them, you need them. Before hand, you didn't. #682 -

internetnick (06/04/2015) [-] Interesting. The only reason I have not killed myself is I'm terrified of the nothing waiting for me after my death. Again, I think that's a case of people who think they would kill themselves without religion, really just having an excuse to not kill themselves. They'd find one either way. #680 -
lifeiscrazyism (06/04/2015) [-] i'm very sorry to hear that you're depressed to the point of suicidal thoughts and I hope things turn for the better for you. But people work in different ways, some are like you, terrified of nothing left, but others want nothing more than for there to be nothing left. Suicide is a touchy subject that i shouldn't have brought in to the conversation, but there are people who depend on their faith in God to get them through the toughest of times. I still don't believe it should be cut off, because people need hope. #681 -

lifeiscrazyism (06/04/2015) [-] There are other reasons for religion obviously. As for me, my family has had a lot of things happen in it for me to not believe that there was some sort of divine intervention. For some people, it's just easier to believe, for others, they're simply in it because they were raised in it. those people are the types of simple mindedness that bill nye dislikes. But for others, it's all that they have left to cling to and it really is a good way to teach some people morals because it offers the reward of heaven or the punishment of hell. I don't care what most believe, I just don't think people should put down on any beliefs from any side. #673 -
