Centum is Latin for 100.

But as a mathematical prefix it means one out of hundred.

I don't exactly know how it originated, but don't expect language to be perfectly logical.

Well I started reading the thread because of your clearly egotisitical original comment I approve, people gotta get burnt to learn that the fire is hot and wanted to see how far you would bring it (dissappointed). Then I had to respond to gary b/c tard comment. Why on earth would a country need a government?

Yeah, I get it, shitty things happen to people, but aside from that at least 60% of things that happen to you are a result of your own choices.
To be honest, a government isn't a necessity, but it inevitably happens in all communities because people always feel the need some kind of organization, and when organization happens, there's always someone who wants to fuck everyone else to get to the top.

Nah,the brony code is fine, it's just that you've gotta know who not to trust with being too nice with.
I learned my lesson and that's the end of that.

Dudes gotta be friendly and help eachother, or else we'll just be upholding the image of the "big bad world" everybody is so afraid of.

What the fuck are you talking about? How is what I said in any way anarchistic? I said the government is wasting money with endless redundant services and bureaus. Which they are. Fact. Why did the Social Security Admi-nistration just buy 174,000 rounds? Why does the dept. of education need sawed off shotguns (shit you not- barrels so short they are illegal for us common folk)? Why did the FBI just buy $13,000 20mm mag fed rifles? They require special permissions to shoot, and cost in excess of $20 a round. Why can the gov't spend so stupidly and no one gives a shit?

1. Do I think the goverment should have a say in the lawmaking of our society? YES! It would be ludicrous if it was not the case.
2. The federal goverment needs to be bigger than the state goverment, because of the the standard logic of a chain of command.
The federal goverment issue meta politic that covers the entire country, and the state goverment govern their own states, because they have a better knowleage of the local affairs. It's so basic, that even children should know of it.
3. If a goverment is too small compared to it's country, it will not work. The country itself would collaps faster than the twin towers.

1. I never said they shouldn't make laws- I was trying to point out that they waste time on irrelevant laws not pertaining to the function of the country.
2. Chain of command is typically a pyramid shape. Federal government is a blob with a cherry (president) on top. There are 4 million non military federal employees- that is more than the population of some states.
3. Flawed logic. Most medieval nations were governed by a ruling family with less than 100 "employees" for hundreds of years. The state governments should be larger than federal, with a small selection of representatives from each state making laws and decisions of national importance. Many of the states in the union would be completely self sufficient without the federal government- until a war anyway.

You need to think about a society as a megasized workplace.
As the leader, you have to make sure that your workers work optimally.
They can't do that without the nesscary tools, gear, education, food, entertainment, rest and healthcare.
Not a single one of your workers will be able to afford all that by themselves.
The cheapest things by far on that list, is entertainment, rest, and food, which the vast majority will be able to provide by themself, so you have to chip in yourself in the startphase.

The federal government has spend over 791.8 billion on welfare this year to date.
That's over $2,500 per person in the country. Did you see any of that money? In fact, I wish there was a public database where we could see what welfare recipients have actually seen of that money in the same time span. The government spends more money managing itself than makes it to the people depending on it. Something is wrong there.

I sincerely hope you are trolling, because that is the most redneck-ish post i have ever read.

1. The goverment is not a fucking service, nor a burden. It's a fucking leadership, one of the main nessecities in a society.
2. Healthcare is not different from the other on that list at all. It's a nessecity to sustain your population... Even fucking tribal africans have healthcare to a degree.
3. Because the society is not about you. A society is a group of people, working together to improve their living standards.
OFC you can get better stuff if you pay for it yourself, however alot of people can not. Imagin if you had to pay for your own roads. That would be completely impossible for anyone outside fortune 500, and even they would have severe road limitations.

Just because government is necessary doesn't mean it isn't a burden. Do you think the government should have say over who gets married, or abortions? Why does the federal government need to be larger than the state government? Why does the state need to be larger than local governments? The smaller the government, the more smoothly it runs. Federal government used to be a group of elected representatives from each state, now it is the largest single institution in the country. Has it gotten more efficient and better at its job of governing? No, it has gotten corrupt, bloated, and stagnant. It has created career politicians who care more about agenda's and PC speech than their constituents. It has created agencies who spy and oppress and disrespect citizens in lieu of their intended purpose. It has restricted a once free market economy and constricted industry as a whole instead of holding individual groups and corporations accountable for their misdeeds and fraud.
Yeah the government pisses me off, and it should you as well. Open your eyes and stop trusting that government is what government should be, see if for what it has become and vote to make a change, for the betterment of society.

All equipped with firearms enforcing laws in our country?
I realize i have some of the armed services branches in there, you can ignore those 4. The majority of these agencies are redundant, and less than half of them need to be armed. less than a quarter of them even communicate with each other for christ's sake

Roads are agreed upon, healthcare isn't. Roads are the same for everyone using them, healthcare isn't. I agree that people who are disabled or can not otherwise support themselves should be cared for, but the system shouldn't support people who are perfectly capable of supporting themselves, it should encourage them to gain independence, not encourage them to be dependent. We live in a society that increasingly penalizes work and increasingly subsidizes non-work. There is no excuse and no reason for a healthy 20 something to not be able to support themselves.
Society may not be about me, but society runs on personal ambitions and achievements because it is made up of individuals seeking their own desires. If you don't believe that you are either naive or an idiot, possibly both.
For one person to receive something for free, someone needs to pay for it, and the government has no money of its own, only money it has taxed from individuals.

And he could have been worth a lot more, but he kept Calvin and Hobbes from being marketed for so long out of respect for the integrity of the characters. He could be FAR more wealthy if he really wanted to.

It's refreshing to see informative comments against this sort of annoying liberal stuff. Not saying liberal's are bad, just it usually appears that the end users are not aware of the side effects / consequences involved with some of this stuff.

Anyway, keep up the good work.
