| I agree with you that the OVA's were complete bullshit, as they confused me and made me angry to see the main character with another girl instead of Nagisa like I was used to. Then again I loved the show, mostly because the characters felt real to me. It was probably the only show ever to actually make me feel concerned towards the characters. It dealt with things like how your life changes over time, how much the death of those closest to you can affect you and how you can overcome great amounts of emotional pain in order to continue with your life. I actually get slightly annoyed when people go on about how sad it was, even though i agree with them, it's all they can say about the show, when no-one really talks about the other things. Then again it's normal if you don't find Clannad sad as it's just your opinion, but believe me when i say a lot of people won't believe you when you say that. | ||

| I understand that. Most people will in fact disagree with you but i respect your opinion. But here's my opinion about Clannad. I kind of disagree with you saying that it was constantly sad. In the first season episodes 8,9 and 14 were the only episodes that were actually set to be sad, while the rest of the show was entirely happy, but remember that this is just my opinion. The cast constantly fooled around, like how Tomoya shot juice up Fuko's nose and how Akio would every now and then say how Sanae's bread tasted horrible without knowing she was standing right behind him and many other things that in my book were the cast having fun. I think that when you say that it only had spikes of happiness was because you were under the impression of every single episode being a tearjerker and didn't really pay much attention to the happy moments. If you want to see a show that was constantly just the characters moping around and crying you should watch Anohana. In all honesty I don't really know what you mean by it constantly being overly dramatic. because as far as I'm concerned i remembered the characters being happy most of the time and having fun up until After Story with the last few episodes. It has been a while since I've watched it so maybe my memory of it is only the sad part sand the other things kind of hazy but one thing I will always remember about that show is Fuko Ibuki, I made it a point to have her name etched into my mind. Although you're right that I assumed that every episode would be a tearjerker because like I said that my standards were probably way to high for that show, although i remember absolutely hating the OVA's and one of the movies with a passion (I forget if there were more then one movie) also I think a strong factor on someones opinion on an anime is when they watch it, like when i watched this I was in high school, so what was going on was what i was in a way dealing with, like jobs and friends and future and all that. So that also probably made me not like it as much as i would have watching it a few years earlier or a few years later. | If you are serious that you watched and focused on all 40+ episodes of character development from the first episode of season 1 and managed to not even shed a single tear at the last few episodes, then you won't cry at anything else in fiction. Because After Story was basically at the limit when it came to feels. If anyone recommends a show to you that they claim will definitely make you cry at the end then don't listen to them, because 99% of the time you won't. Or who knows perhaps you have cried to something else in the past. I've never cried at anything, show wise or irl for the better half of 10+ years. Maybe I just don't get that type of emotion from shows I guess. Cause I've watched plenty of shows that made me feel a ton of emotions pretty strongly, but crying was never one of them. Now that I think about it maybe the reason I didn't cry while watching this series was because everyone said it would make me cry and so I went into it expecting every episode to cause oceans of feels,so my standards were probably set to high. Although to the thing you said about clannead being the limit of feels I have to disagree with you, personally (i know a lot of people will disagree with me here but) it wasn't that sad. The whole show was based around problems and sadness and the majority was in a low point, meaning just a straight run of sad with a spike of happy then some more sad. I don't see the appeal in that. I can feel a lot more sadness if there is a character who goes a hundred percent on everything and then if something bad or sad happens to them I'll feel more for them you know? It's like a roller coaster, and clannad was basically a kitty coaster 2 ft off the ground with three big drops and slight raises, like a bucket with hundreds of holes in it, sure you can enjoy the bucket and what it can do for you but inevitably what ever you put into it will empty out, and in clannad they just kept emptying their bucket until they finally just used a cup. I understand that. Most people will in fact disagree with you but i respect your opinion. But here's my opinion about Clannad. I kind of disagree with you saying that it was constantly sad. | Well if you watched the original Clannad that would be normal, but the odds of you getting through after story and not crying is very, very low especially if you watched the first season before after story. i watched all of clannad including afterstory and the movies and ova's and not once did i get even a little teary eyed. If you are serious that you watched and focused on all 40+ episodes of character development from the first episode of season 1 and managed to not even shed a single tear at the last few episodes, then you won't cry at anything else in fiction.
