Yep, they could have produced some amazing stuff if they cooperated, but I suppose it's a slippery slope. If they made everything completely compatible with one another, it would make things easier, but at the same time, it would inhibit what each company strides to achieve, PC's are known for being open systems, friendly to user written programs, and easily modified, Mac's are closed systems, and cooperation would prevent apple from being in complete control of their software, which is why they have the reputation of being so fast and virus free. So I guess they're better off separate -sigh-
